When I would adjust the moniter it would black out and I would have to restart the notebook to get the screen to appear again. now it will not come on at all. I can barely see the outline of the desktop on the moniter.
I tried to hook up another moniter to view my work, but failed

Monitor STFC (Self Test Feature Check) * Turn off the monitor * Plug the monitor power cord directly into the wall socket to remove any surge protectors or APCs from the troubleshooting equation * Unplug the monitor video cable from the back of the computer * Turn on the monitor * The floating dialog box should appear on screen against a black background. If the issue appears during the STFC, the monitor is defective. Get it replaced.
Try this:
Plug it out and remove the battery. Then insert the battery again, plug it in and try.
If just black screen appears, your display may be dead and you need to replace it.

Thank you
adjust it with, with the buttons, to increase the contrast, either go to display settings in control panel,, and adjust your screen resolution and, brightneess
option one: try to reboot your pc on safemode in order to use press f8 before the microsoft screen appears, then boot it to safemode, see if will display in safemode, now if the system display go to display properties and adjust your resolution to 640 x 480 or 800 x 600 and restart, the lcd screen may not support the resolution you have just set before, option two: if you have done option one and the same result have your notebook check for problems regarding the lcd screen
Take the post (power on self test) disconnect vga cable and connect power cable if monitor shows no signal check signal cable massage then monitor is ok fault is in cpu. open it and clean the dust
by vaccum cleaner you will get the display again
You have your resolution on your moniter set lower then the native resolution. To fix this, right click the desktop click properties, click on the settings tab, under screen resolution adjust the slider to the end or to the point at which it is full screen.
advice came right back, thanks.
