Black Screen When I turn the camera on all I see is a black screen, you can read the information on the screen but can't see a picture. Was working fine but was using in bright sunlight and it went black.
I had the same issue and I there was a part of the lens assembly that got stuck up. Messy work though that you have to dismantle every single part till you get to the lens assembly.I had the same issue and I there was a part of the lens assembly that got stuck up. the image in the LCD monitor will darken in strong sunlight or bright light. This is normal occurrrence in device CCDs and does not contitute a malfunction. This image will not be recoded when shooting still photos, but it will be recorded wihen shooting movies.Read you owner manual and adjust the MENU, according with your o. manual.Otherwise you must go the repair shop God bless you
I had this same problem. Once I got over about 1200 pictures, the
screen just turned black, and the only setting that would work where I
could see the lcd screen was the easy setting. I had read somewhere
that this was due to the amount of pictures the camera had "counted",
even if those pictures had been downloaded and erased from the camera.
So I decided to reset the camera. Go to the tools list in the menu,
scroll down to "reset all", and when it prompts if you want to "reset
settings to default" click ok. This worked for me, and all of my
settings - sunset, landscape, etc. - now work. Keep in mind that if you have configured any parameters in any of the settings
(shutter speed, lighting, etc.) those will have to be reset.
Nonononooooo fotomohamed, he can review just taken pictures on the LCD. The screen is working.
Actually, it sounds like you just accidentally pressed the DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This manually turns the screen on and off in picture taking mode to save batteries (you would then use optical viewfinder). Just press it once and it should turn back on.
You may still be able to take pictures with your black screened Kodak camera. This problem occurs in the line of Kodak EasyShare digital camera models.
When you turn on your Kodak EasyShare digital camera, turn off the LiveView function. Take a picture using the small-windowed viewfinder (this is not the LCD screen). Also, try zooming in and out.
After taking a picture, review the picture to see if the picture has been taken. Then turn on LiveView and occasionally the LCD screen should no longer be showing a black screen.
Piece of junk that took great pictures for 1 year and now shows a black screen. Do not buy any Canon products. We also have one of these pieces of junk at work, now displays a E 18 code. Appears Canon wants to make mucho dollars by producing ****.
CCD malfunction, common with Sony manufactured CCD chips. You are in luck, its a free repair regardless of warranty date. http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=SupportDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=223&modelid=8044#
It sounds like a bad connection on the ribbon cable of the LCD screen to the camera's motherboard. The fact that when you physically move the camera around and you can get the screen to then work, tells me something is loose inside.
CCD sensor faulty especially if you can play back pictures that were captured properly, but have a blank screen in capture mode. Replace sensor and camera will work fine.
