THERE IS A LONG U SHAPED CLIP. I CAN'T FIGURE WHER OR HOW IT GOES BACK. THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BAR WORKS FINE WITHOUT CLIP. IT MUSTHOLD THE LEFT SIDE UP FOR EQUAL PRESSURE. IT IS A COMPAQ KEYBOARD.

Take the wire piece out of the keyboard and attach it to the space bar by snapping the long horizontal section into the notched moldings you will see along one edge of the underside of the spacebar. Now turn the spacebar back over, orient it with the high side toward you and the lower side toward the other keys, fit the retainer ends into the slots in the keyboard, and push the spacebar center pin back into its hole. The wire is not really a retainer; it is there to transfer to the center pin any pressure applied to either end of the bar.

My COMPAQ space bar has no notched moldings so this is useless.

Why does the space bar only have a centre touch point

The reason for this happening is that the metal bar under your spacebar is not properly attached. It's time consuming to properly fix it, but it's an easy fix at that.

All you need to do is remove your spacebar and metal bar (shaped somewhat like a tall C, if held sideways). On the bottom of the spacebar will be approximately 2-3 small clips in which the metal bar will snap into. Once snapped into place, you will want to look at the area where the spacebar goes. There should be two small clips at each end. With the metal bar clipped into the spacebar, you want to place the "ends" of the metal bar under the clips on the keyboard and very carefully place the spacebar into the hole on the keyboard and snap it into place. Now test it out and it should work fine. If not, it's likely that the metal bar came out from under the keyboard clips. The annoying part is snapping the spacebar into place without having the metal piece come out from under those clips, so you may need to perform this task a few times.

The far right and left ends of the spacebar do not work. In order to use the spacebar function, the direct middle of the button has to be pushed down.

You need to reposition (clip) the torssion bar under the spacebar key (a steel wire formed in a wide U shape), it is unhooked, call for a professionnal if you'r not sure how to do this as you may brake the plastic hinge if you don't know what you'r dooing...

The space bar seemed wobbly so i took it off to try and fix, and the clips and all came off. I am somewhat good at technology and figuring things out but i cannot get this space bar back on. How do i fix...

That depends on what kind of clips it used. Most laptops use these small plastic clips. Assuming it is not broken, you have to first connect the two plastic pieces together properly. This is noted by it laying completely flat and freely able to move around. Then place it back on the space bar as it will have slots it must slide into. Then place the bar back over the space it came out of with the plastic henge over the square space with a popup switch and press firmly until you here a click. It should lock into place.

If you continue to have trouble, take it to a professional. Something like this should be cheap and quick to get fixed.

Underwood no. 5 typewriter doesn't advance when hit keys

the cord is shaped much like a shoe lace, and these make great replacements, a spare clip can be fashioned out of a paper clip, it's not a precision part. the spring if broken can be replaced with any clock style spring, i bought a wind up kitchen timer at the dollar store (same for the shoe lace) and took the spring from that. for $2.14, got mine working good as new

Rear break clip cant get it to set right

If you are referring to the big U ring that goes from one side down to the bottom and then back up to the other side nd fits into the slots on each brake shoe, there is a special tool that makes this clip easy to put on, but if you cannot get access to this tool, you will have to remove the U ring and start it from the bottom under the metal clip and then carefully (it will try and spring back at you) use a big screwdriver or small pry bar to fit it into the slots on each brake shoe. Hop this helps.
