Unfortunately no. I have removed the handle cover and when unscrewing it just spins without backing out.

  • Anonymous Mar 24, 2013

On the set srew is a locking nut, first loose the nut, and after you can adjust it

  • Anonymous Mar 24, 2013

Clarify. I have removed only yhe cover that exposes the screw. The handle itself cannot be removed due to the screw not backing oit

So, you are not far yet, I have no better idea, drill out the screw , Good Luck

How to remove thet trim on a t6520 bathroom faucet handle?

Most moen handles and trim are secured by an allen set screw located right under the handle by looking at the picture you supplied. Once the set screw is loosened the handle can be removed and then the deck escheon usually screws off. Most of the time you do not need to remove the deck cover to get to the valve cartridge.

My set screw will not backout in order to remove handle for cartridge repair. Screw turns counterclockwise but will not unseat. How can I remove for repair?

Try some lime remover on the screw/handle, and make sure you are using the correct tool and that it is actually turning the screw. Some are allen wrench style while others are slotted screws. If you are sure you are using the correct tool and it is loose, try to pry under the handle or get a handle puller tool. If you could post a picture of the handle I might have a more specific answer.

Leaky faucet

This is generally due to a loose or faulty cartridge. To fix:

1. Turn off water supply valves under sink.

2. Block the sink drain to avoid losing small parts.

3. Remove faucet handle. It is attached by a set screw, an odd size (I actually used a T9 torx screwdriver successfully, even though the set screw is hex head, since I did not have a matching allen key). The set screw is quite far into the handle, ~3cm, through a hole in the bottom of the handle. Depending on your countertop layout, you may have to actually remove the entire faucet from the countertop in order to get access to it, in which case follow the appropriate parts of your faucet installation directions in reverse.

4. Remove dome. It will come off with a gentle turn/pull.

5. Check the tightness of the exposed large hex nut. This is the piece that holds the cartridge in place. If you are lucky, it is just loose, and that's your problem; otherwise you will need a new cartridge.

6. Unscrew that nut, remove. Pull out the cartridge.

7. Replacement cartridges may be found at your local Moen dealer, or may be ordered directly from Moen +1-800-Buy-Moen. Parts are free due to the lifetime warranty. Part #1255 includes the cartridge, cartridge nut, and set screw. The nut must be changed with the cartridge (presumably due to its wear characteristics).

To reassemble:

8. If you have it, place a very small amount of plumber's silicone lubricant on the back of the cartridge, on the rubber seals around the three holes.

9. Assemble in reverse order of disassembly. The cartridge only goes in one way, due to three guiding channels on its perimeter.

Enjoy!

I have a moen shower faucet. Previously I was getting only hot water or only cold water But when you quickly twist the knob a clunk type sound would come from inside the wall and then we were able to get...

It's hard to say without seeing it for myself, however, it seems to me that you have a Moen Shower Faucet with an anti-scald feature called positemp. You need locate the screw on the cartridge and loosen it, while adjusting the dial clockwise or counter-clockwise with your fingers and tighten the screw back up. Clockwise for warmer, counter for cooler. Also check to see that your cartridge was inserted properly.
