There should be a large nut underneath the countertop, this may have loosened up. You will need a basin wrench, which will allow you to get into this tight area. Once you have the basin wrench engaged, turn the nut clockwise to tighten.

Faucet hex-screw not tightening correctly
Anytime you remove the screw you speak of there is a donut washer/seal made of rubber or plastic underneath that must be replaced even if it looks OK to the naked eye. The screw when tightened compresses the washer/seal which is made with a consistency that allows for no residual memory to return to it\'s original shape. The problem (or what makes them work so good) with them is that they form to the underside of the screw and the inside of the screw housing to provide a seal and this formation is basically impossible to place exactly as was when reassembling they fixture. Thus in order to not have it leak the need to make it too tight is prevalent or as you say the handle will turn willy-nilly due to being loose. It is an easy fix and they are cheap. The washer/seals can be purchased at any hardware type store and it should make it easier to tighten properly without your preceding problems.

How to fix Moen Banbury model 87690SRS kitchen faucet ?
There is no way to tighten spout from top of sink. If you slide in cabinet and look up at the bottom of the faucet (spout ) you will see a nut on the threaded shaft of the spout hanging below in cabinet. With a basin wrench, kind of like a spring loaded pair of channel locks with a long extension arm and t-handle, you get it around the nut and tighten it clock wise on the shaft. You may have to disconnect the faucet valve ( handle part of faucet) from the bottom of the spout before tightening. Note...be sure that the jaws of your basin wrench are firmly around the nut only as not to mar and gouge the threads on the spout shaft. It is also helpful to have someone else hold the spout in position at the top side in order to tighten it properly. Some of the moen models (depending on place of purchase) may have a nut with set screws in it. You get the nut as tight as you can by hand and with a screw driver tighten the screws which will be visible and the heads will be facing down at the sides of the spout shaft. If you can't seem to locate what I am describing post again and I will try to locate a diagram for you.

I have a single lever Moen faucet where the handle
On almost all moen single handle faucets there is no allen set screw to hold handle on. They are secured by a screw located under Moen emblem in the center of the faucet on the top. You usually can get to the handle screw by prying cover off with small blade screwdriver or point of knife blade.. Tighten screw and hopefully this will fix your problem. Thank you.

How do I replace the cartridge in my Moen 7065 Vestige Single Handled kitchen Faucet?
first the water needs to be shut off, then with an allan wrench if i remember it should be 1/8. the allan screw is located in the handle. remove the screw completely and under the handle should be a nut, with a crescent wrench remove the nut and the cartridge should be ready to be removed. it is going to be difficult to come out with out the proper moen tool but vise grips will help as you have to pull straight up. if you find a plumping wholesale and give them the model # they should be able to give you the right cartridge. or if you call moen the will ship you one either way it should be free as that is a warranty item.

Dripping faucet
turn off the water supply, remove the handle, remove the retaining ring that holds the valve in,, pull the valve up and out of the faucet, you will see that the lower gasket or one of the O rings is broken, take the model number to any home supply store, and they have replacements with the whole valve, or cheaper are the rebuild kits that come with all the seals and gaskets,, do yourself a favor and pick up a small container of plumbers grease ,, rub some of it all over the O rings when you replace the valve,, they last much longer that way

I have a moen 7065
hey Bob
I hope you still need help, but if not I will help you anyway.
The handle has a screw that goes into a lifting cam that turns the cartiage to hot and cold. I have seen more where the black ring is broken. To fine the part needed y9ou can do one of two thing. Call Moen and they will send you all the repair part for free. IF you can not get the repair done they will send you a new faucet for free.
Yuo cab up grade the faucet and they only charge you 55.00 Not bad for a new 200.00 plus faucet.
To replace the faucet just get a basin wrench and take the water tubes off and take lose all the nuts from below. Remove the old unit and install the new one. Oh replace the water supply tubes with new one. Not worth the risk of leaving the old one in and them leaking.
Have a great day
Rich
