Have you been to the Compaq/HP website to check your specific model for updated Windows 8 drivers? It's tough to know for sure...but "Base System Device" and "Coprocessor" are possibly parts of the motherboard chipset..and the SmartAudio 221 component is also likely built in to the motherboard. I would do a search on the HP/Compaq website, and possibly find the right drivers using their support tool...it may identify them based on your serial number. Make sure they have Windows 8 compatibility. If not, you may want to go back to 7 for a while until all the drivers can be updated for 8.

I just recently upgraded my laptop to a Windows 8 Pro 32 bit system and I am finding that there are a few drivers that are compatible with Windows 8. One of them was the nVidia GeForce 7000 series. I solved that problem and now I am trying to figure out how to solve the problem in Device Manager under 'Other Devices'. I believe that it is because I need an updated Conexant Smartaudio 221 driver. Under other devices, I see that there is an exclamation point next to two labels of 'Base System Device' and 'Coprocessor'. Any clues where to start with this mess?
