That is not a vertical roll from side to side, this is a horizontal rolling. if the vertical had a roll it would be going from top to bottom. This is most likely a coupling between the horizontal sync circuit and the sync separator circuit. Good Luck

I need help figuring out whats wrong with my TV. It has a black vertical bar running down the left side that sometimes changes colors and sometimes shows the picture. Help!!

Remove the LVDS connector. clean and replace, then the flat ribbon cables going from tcon to panel. If that doesn't help you most likely have a bad panel, you can replace the tcon but I don't think it will help

The horizontal hold

If model number correct (the one posted here) set does not have a horizontal (rolls left to right) or a vertical (rolls top to bottom) control.

Verify model and brand so I may offer some suggestions

After turning on the tv. The screen shows up and down lines across the screen. Can't see much of the picture.

Hello,

IF YOU HAVE A SOLID BLACK LINE RUNNING VERTICALLY THEN YOU HAVE A FAULTY MATRIX INVERTER. IF CENTRAL THE MAIN VERTICAL INVERTER NEEDS CHANGED. LEFT = LEFT VERTICAL INVERTER RIGHT=RIGHT.........

ANOTHER WAY TO GET THIS FAULT IS WORN OR DAMAGED RIBBON/PLASTIC GOING FROM THE SCREEN MATRIX TO THE INVERTER

Hoping this will help in solving the problem...

Top of creeen rolls over and back down from the top about 3"

There is a capacitor in the vertical circuit that has significantly changed value causing this. If you are familiar with these units, look for a capacitor with the value of around 100ufd that is part of the vertical circuit and change it. That should resolve it. If you bring this to a shop, expect a parts cost up to $10.

Whats a quick solution

The problem may be related to bad capacitors on the PIP module. This is a commom fault as vertical sync runs through the PIP board and this is the symptom of the pip board having bad capacitors the TV rolls.

Vertical rolling of picture

If the picture rolls while both on cable as well as when you playback a tape or DVD, it could be caused by a bad filter capacitor in the power supply or vertical deflection circuits. If it only rolls while trying to view a picture from a cable/satellite box, then that component is likely at fault.

Horizontal roll on mitusbishi 35" tv

is this a horizontal black line going up or down? if yes, this sympton is caused by a trouble in the integrated circuit or in the vertical oscillator circuit. this symptons has 2 variations. one is the intermittent rolling of the picture. this referred to as the "loose vertical hold" the other variations is the continuous upward or downward rolling of the picture
