wrightthefir,
This model has some serious documented problems. Most are on the DM board but it could also involve the power supply and another board. The electrolytic capacitors dry out and short circuit causing the problems you have. Replacement is an option but it does not always work.
If you love your machine and want to save it the following link has kits which will allow you to replace the known bad capacitors and they supply good instruction sheets.

If its a rear projection TV. It sounds like the Lamp is shot on the projector, or is going. Look in the back and see if it is lit if it is flickering I would definitely suggest replacing it. If that doesnt repair it then I would ultimately suggest the optical engine which is the projector of the TV
Mitsubishi VCR HS-U580 guide rollers not moving forward all the way. Cassette would not load. Also noticed drum not spinning when powered on
Your Mitsubishi VCR HS-U580 looks to have a problem with the information rollers and drum. Here are some things to check:
Look for something blocking the VCR or cassette compartment that would possibly be stopping the guide rollers.
Check the belt that drives the VCR mechanism. If it is loose or broken, you may also need to substitute it.
Clean the video heads using a head-cleaning cassette to make certain they're not dirty.
See if the drum motor is working. If it is not spinning, there may be an issue with the motor.
