How to get my Sony HT-CT60 Sound Bar Home Theater programmed to my GCI Cable remote?

I have tried connecting optical connection to the TV and then tried the cable box itself. Volume still comes from Sony soundbar remote, not cable remote or TV remote. I tried using code 993 as per GCI cable for volume lock/unlock and neither works. Any ideas how I can get the volume to work from my cable remote

This worked for me, but I have a Comcast Motorola DVD-R:
These are the codes for your SONY SA-CT60 Audio Device. Follow the instructions below to program your remote.
How to get my Sony HT-CT60 Sound Bar Home Theater - silver_with_red_ok_button-lg.gif Most likely code: 30158
Others to try: 31758, 31759
To program your Comcast remote:

  1. Turn on the TV or other device that you would like to program.
  2. Press the TV button on your remote control.
NOTE: If you would like to program your remote control to work with a DVD Player, VCR or Audio device press the AUX button.
  3. Press and hold Setup until the red light blinks twice, then release Setup.
  4. Enter the first code for your device listed above. If you perform this procedure correctly, the red light will blink twice.
NOTE: If you enter an invalid code, the red light will display one long blink and exit the programming mode. Repeat steps 2 to 4 with a valid code.
  5. Aim the remote control at your device and press Power once (press the Play key for devices that don't have a POWER button). If the TV turns off, make sure that the VOL+/- and Mute buttons also work. If so, you're all set!
  6. If not, repeat these steps using the next manufacturer's code (you may need to try several codes to find the one that works).

SOURCE: Gurus, I just bought Samsung Home Theater System which i connected to my Hitachi TV with HDMI cable. I have a Optical Cable going from HT to my TV Optical port. I have another connection from my cable

On the remote control for the Samsung Home Theater System look at the bottom left to a button that says "MODE", those moods change the sound each speaker gives off. if that doesn't work, you might need new wiring because there are other wires that are more durable than the ones that come with it, much better too.

How does the philips hts8100 operate tv sound do i need special cable

If your TV does not have a fiber optic output jack on it the sound bar will never connect to the TV. If it does then you'll need a fiber cable and then go to the audio setup on the TV and select optical out so the TV sound will be directed to the sound bar.

Wont retain audio settings

Try just using the optical cable alone. connecting the HDMI and the optical cables at the same time might be confusing the TV.

Hook up a sony ht ct60 to a samsung flat screen

Your sound source comes from you cable/dish box. There should be an audio out (L/R) on the back. You can take the audio off the TV from those audio outputs if you have them available. Not all the box store tvs have these.

How can i listen the tv sound on the home conema? I connected by hdmi cable. tks

You have to connect audio cables (red & white or optical) from your TV's AUDIO OUT to the Home Theater's AUX IN 2 (below VIDEO IN).

Press AUX on the remote control until it says AUX 2. (This would be D. IN when you're using an optical cable)

No sound with ps3, connected to a 7.1 av receiver & projection tv

Hi...the HT-R800 Home Theater system has the HT-R550 receiver which could only carry Video via HDMI. you would need to connect a separate audio cale(Optical Audio Cable) to be able to get audio out of the PS3 to the receiver. Once you have hooked up an Optical Audio Cable you would need to go in the PS3 setup and putin Bitstream and Optical in the Audio Setup menu.

Wiring problems

Not certain if HDMI can be used in a setup like this. I'd try it from the home theater (HT) to the TV, and other wiring for the other components.

For video:
All of these should have component connections (Y/Pr/Pb). You'll only need the video cables for each device:
  • Video out from cable, HT, and combo player.
  • Video in to TV. Your choice of inputs.
For audio:
Hopefully, the two output devices (the combo player and the cable box) have digital audio (fiber optic, or RCA coaxial). Otherwise, you'll only get stereo sound. VHS is stereo only anyway.
  • Audio out from cable box and combo player.
  • Audio in to HT.
The TV won't have anything to do with audio in this setup. Alternatively, you could try hooking up all inputs to the TV, and connecting audio out from the TV to the HT. Works best if this connection is digital, for surround.
