Look first in menu to see if speakers somehow are switched to off. Look to see if sound with a DVD etc connected to one of the rear sets of inputs----also depending on hookup a cable or sat box can cause this also.

Can you hook-up speakers to it

Hi Ted,
If the set is having outlet for speakers, you can do it. Otherwise you will have to connect the audio output from the TV to some amplifier or home theater to enjoy sound from external speakers.

Proscan 42" LED 120hz TV no audio out except with hdmi

Look for the setup menu on the TV. It is common that you need to select either TV speakers or external speakers as only one will work at a time. If you want the sound to come out the audio output, you may need to select this option. Worth checking.

The speackers sound creckey when i hook up my playstation 3 when it plays dolby digital 5.1 and the thae games only work in 5.1

Are the speakers external or build in?

Anyway, my suggestion would be to replace the speaker unit because something like water, dust, dirt etc is causing the problem.

You may find it cheater to purchase some high quality external speakers for this unit.

I hope this helps.

No volume

On the back of your set there are 2 switches that tell the tv whether you are using the internal speakers or the external speakers.
Make sure the switches are set to internal so the speakers in the TV receive the sound signals. If they're set to internal maybe the internal speakers are bad. Set the switches to external and hook up external speakers to the speaker terminals on the back of the TV. If neither setup works then it sounds like an output transistor or related parts.

Sound Problems with JVC AV-35BP4 TV

The audio output stage for the speakers may have failed in the TV set. If the set has an earphone jack, it is also possible that the jack has a fault (very rare, but I have seen this).

Are there external speaker outputs to try other speakers?

Audio not working on proscan ps61700

I have a GE 46 in TV that had the same occurrence. I believe it is a sign that the amplifier is overheated or stressed. The way I fixed mine was to unplug TV and leave off for a few minutes -then plug in. I discovered this by accident when the power went off one day and the sound returned (had been using my vcr audio output plugged into my stereo for weeks!) This fix will work for weeks-sometimes months-evidently resets the circuits inside the amp somehow. Last time this happened I also removed the back of TV and blew out the dust with compressed air while it was unplugged-still have sound 4 months later without a "reset"-so I'm guessing it did help .
