Started the fast spin cycle and the machine just keeps filling up with water. It won't drain and when you try and cancel the cycle the machine switches itself off. When you turn it back on its still stuck in the same place and the machine is still filling up with water... the door lock light is on but no others , not even the fast spin cycle where it should be. HELP !!!!! tried taken the front filter off but have turned it anti clockwise as far as I can but it won't come out. Checked drain pipe, not blocked. Comment posted on Dec 31, 2008 Hi got the filter off, it was jammed by coins !!!!! empited it but still no luck. Machine is still stuck on a cycle where it's just filling up with water and when I try to cancel it its as tho the machine trips out and shuts itself down. When I unplug it and plug it back in its still stuck on the same cycle..... filling up with water... and it doesn't even attempt to drain it. Even if I try to press any of the buttons the machine trips out. Its Model number WT540 1400 spin, Hotpoint washing machine.
Could be a sticking water level switch, which controls the water level, or a blockage in the hose to the switch, or a trapped or split hose to the switch. the hose in question is about 6mm in diam,and goes from the sump hose to the pressure switch,if u remove the hose from the preesure switch chamber, check for a blockage there, and blow down the hose to see if it is clear, u should hear the switch click if it is clear, if no click and hose is clear, then I wud say the switch is faulty.
