A three way switch has 3 terminals, these for floor fans operate by a rotary switch but can be adapted to use any 120V Rotary toggle or rocker type switch. technically your compartment (or room provided will determine which to use). I'd suggest you replace it with one like the one that no longer works. The one good thing about fans the direction they rotate in is already determined, and with a/c current it will work even if you connect it up wrong! If it work's then fine don't over think it

Replacing a waterway 56 executive spa pump 3 hp with 4 hp. how do I wire plug into 4 hp pump

The pump motor should have a label on the side of the motor showing a diagram for Common, High speed, Low speed and the right positions for the connections.
Common is always the white wire
High speed is normally red
Low speed is Black
Green wire is always green

Hunter original old thyme model 22272 wiring diagram

the (white) wire is likely the neutral, red - low speed, blue - high speed.they would typically be connected thru a selector switch. however, best guess is that white would hook to incoming white neutral, and blue (or red, but not both at the same time) would hook to incoming black (hot) wire.

2 speed switch wiring dieagram

The motor will have wiring diagram and voltage on nameplate.
You can re-post question with information that shows on nameplate for more exact information, or keep reading below:
If motor is rated for 240Volts, then it will not work with 120V.
If motor is rated for both 120V and 240V, then either Low voltage or high voltage will work, and one wire will be common, and 1 wire will for 120 and other wire for 240.
If motor is rated 120Volt two speed, then one wire will be neutral, and 1 wire low speed, and other wire high speed. You can connect your wire to either low of high, and cap other wire.
If motor is 240volt two speed, then one wire will be common, and 1 wire low speed, and other wire high speed.
If motor is rated 3-phase, then all three wires are connected to the voltage shown on nameplate.
If motor is rated 3-phase two speed, you may need electrician to wire the motor correctly.

I have a 3 speed fan with a red, blue, black an white wires, how are the supposed to be wired with power. the wires go to a little black box that appears to just be wires with no circuit board

The BOX is a GE splicer - with 6 wires - 2 grey power wires, then the red, blue, black, and white from the fan motor. I have the same problem and cannot find another GE SPLICER 3 SPEED SWITCH for the fan. All switches that I have tried have 4 connections.........so a WIRING DIAGRAM would be GREAT!

Can anyone offer any help? I have tried every electrical store in the area!

Thanks

I am installing a Mars 1/3 hp fan motor. It has a black wire, red wire, blue wire, yellow wire and (2) brown wire that go to a capacitor. May Furnace has Black power wire, red wire (speed) and white common....

Hello, Typically your common wire will be white, high speed- black, medium speed- yellow, medium low-blue, red- low. The motor could still run for a short time if it was wired wrong but will either trip a breaker or go off on it;s overload when it's gets hot.

Need to wire cap

I am assuming this is a combo fan and compressor capacitor.
In american air conditioners the cap has 3 sections all clear marked. The fan has an F and only 2 terminals, the compressor has a HERM (for hermedically sealed compressor) and only 3 terminals. The cap also Has a C for common with 4 terminals. What you want to do is connect a start wire from the fan which is usually a small plain brown wire to the F terminals. You would want to connect a start wire from the compressor which is a heavy wire to the Herm terminals. Then the compressor and fan both have a common wire those go to the C along with one side of the Power cord. The fan common wire can be purple or white. If you decide NOT to use the white wire for common you be sure to tape it off. Then you can use the brown wire with the white stripe fro common. The other side of the power cord will receive the RUN wires from the fan and the compressor. Note: If the fan has multiple speeds you must ONLY connect one speed at a time. Speeds are normally Black for high, Blue for medium and Red for low. So if your intent was to maybe bypass a switch or board you would tape off the blue wire and the red wire seperately and use the black wire for a high speed fan.
