Wifi disabled on router

I've been using the wireless from my router just fine for months but suddenly it's not working. It's nothing to do with my laptop's ability to connect to wifi, though, as I'm able to connect elsewhere. I went to the IP address page, logged in, and sure enough it says the wireless connection is disabled but won't let me click it to enable it. What should I do?

Sounds strange, unplug and plug it back in to see if you get lucky. If your sure there is nothing else preventing the wireless form being activated you might have to reset the router and hope that works. Good luck.

This could be a duplex issue. When you log into the belkin does is assign you an IP address? Have you used a ballpoint pen to reset the EMTA since you have connected the router?

You need to disable the UPnP function on the Belkin router. Log into the router(192.168.2.1), and look under System Settings. If you haven't changed the password on the router, the default password is blank, i.e., no password.

You should use a router, but if you cant, try hooking everything up like normal, then pull the power cord on modem for 10 full seconds, hook back up, wait 5 minutes and then try.

Cannot connect to Wireless with my Linksys WRT120N Router.

If you have 2 devices not be able to connect to it suddenly, then it is probably the router that changed, as opposed to it being the 2 devices changing at the same time. Sometimes wireless routers just go bad like that.Try a factory reset, and then set the appropriate settings back to where you need them. If that doesn't help, you likely need a new one.

NV55C Gateway Lap Top cannot connect to wireless router

Does your WiFi work on the laptop work in another place... Starbucks for example? If so, then there is a software security issue with the router, you will need to call the ISP for adjust the settings. If you PC doesn't work with wifi at Starbucks then you have a software issue with your laptop. Go to MY Computer, Hardware/Devices and look for any yellow marks. There will probably be one where the wifi is located. (Expand all the devices by clicking on the plus "+ signs. Find the wifi modem, there are many mfrs; Broadcom and Atheros are two ones. Go into the submenus and driver update too and write everything down you find. The most important things are the description, model number, software version and version date. Navigate to the hardware mfrs site and download and install the newest drivers for the wifi modem. Re-boot and try again to establish a connection.

Change Your Wireless Channel

If you're using a Linksys router, you'll need to browse to the address of your router, which is probably set to http://192.168.1.1 but could be assigned to another address. You can run a quick ipconfig command at the command prompt to check:

image12.png

In my case the address is different (because I changed it, of course), but what you're looking for is the Default Gateway for your Wireless connection, and then go to http:// in your browser. Enter in the password that you hopefully remember, and head to the Wireless -> Basic Wireless Settings tab.

My router has two separate bands, but your router might just have a single band here. In my case, what I've done is set the 2.4 GHz band to only be used for Wireless-G, and the 5GHz one to Wireless-N only. Since I'm not having any problems with the Wireless-N settings, I've left those on auto.

image13.png

Where I am having a problem, however, is my Wireless-G devices-so what I've done is chosen channel 9, since it's the only channel that's not being used by any of my neighbors, who are using mostly channels 1 and 6, though a few are using 11 as well.

Channels 1, 6, and 11 are the most common channels to choose, and most routers will use one of them as the default channel-but the general idea is to be as far away from everybody else as you can.

image14.png

Note: I've also configured my router for 20 MHz only on the 2.4 GHz Wireless-G band, just because that was the only way it would let me choose the standard channel manually.

If you are using a different router, the IP address will generally be the same, but you'll have to figure out how to change the Wireless channel without any screenshot tours. It's usually fairly easy, though, once you know what you're looking for.

I have a netgear wndr3400 wifi route in use. It is located in my office at home. It is upstairs in the front of the house. My laptop is downstairs in the rear of the house. The system works but does drop...

WNDR3400 is a dual band WiFi router.
In case your Laptop has Wireless N card then you can can use Wireless N on WiFi else you need to use Wireless G.To enhance the Router performance Disable one WiFi Network on your Router(Either N or G) and configure Channel 11 for long range signals.
To configure said changed you need to login into Router (http://192.168.1.1 or http://10.0.0.1)Check IP address to find your router's IP address (Gateway address is the router address)Type User name and passwordDefault username and password for netgear routersUsername : admin Password : password
Goto wireless settings and disable one of the wireless network a per your requirements (N 0r G, if you have Wireless G adapter on your laptop then suggest you not to use Wireless N)Changed Channel - 11
Save settingsAnd reboot Router
Hope this helps

How to connect my Linksys router with my wi tribe modem?? my laptop pick up the wireless signal and can connect,,it says "connected" but when you open a page it says either "invalid server...

The Linksys Wireless router is fine, but your latop is not configured for DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol). The computer is connected to the router at layer 2, whereas HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol), sits
atop the TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) layer, and seems to be trying to
query the ISP's (Internet Service Provider) network for a nameserver (via DNS (Dynamic Name Service) protocol) that doesn't exist on the ISP's network. Configuring the laptop for DHCP and specifying no nameserver will fix this (the ISP's network will dynamically assign a DNS).

Its also possible (though a remote possibility) that your Linksys wifi router may be configured to disallow TCP/IP virtual circuits to/from your computer's IP address - but this is a really advanced
capability of your Linksys wifi router - few know this capability even exists.

Connecting multiple wifi devices to the Linksys router should be no problem, just configure them all to interact with the router using DHCP.
