LED #5 must glow or call the IPS to get that working if LED #5 does glow. use ethernet wired to SB Led 7 and 8 is telephone VOIP so not important now. not told wifi or ethenet fails, or both not told if PC wired ethernet to top rear of SBV works if at PC you ping 1.1.1.1 this works internet is good but DNS fails if you ping same and it fails internet is dead but led #5 MUST GLOW. The pc also shows connected in the task bard for SURE using ethernet if all that passes, we then fix bad love/hate WIFI ask how.

It's not the modem if the wireless is working and the desktop is connected with a wire. Try different router ports and/or a different wire.

The SBV5120 is simply a device that converts your cable internet signal to a RJ45 computer output that connects to your single PC It also has two RJ11 phone jacks if you use the modem as your home phone as well. It has no wireless function, For you to have a wireless connection, you will need to purchase a Wifi Router. These can easily be got at any local computer store or a big box retailer like Best Buy, Staples, Computer City etc, Most come as a 4 or 8 port wifi router, your choice will be the number of wired connections. In your case it looks like one. Once you have your router, connect the Modem RJ45 to the WAN input on the router and your PC to one of the LAN ports on the router. In its default state, it should connect you to the internet as normal. The router will have setup instructions which you can use after you connect the modem and PC.

i try to connect with my motorola cable modem, but is asking for type user name from and password from isp. i am using dstv decoder

Follow the steps in the quick start guide and it will install itself. If you don't have one. Plug everything in and let Windows see it. Likely will self install. If not you have to go to the Manufacturer's site and download the instructions.
