SOURCE: 99 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 / nothing but parking lights,no flashers or brake lights......

I found the problem on my Dodge Ram van.. The button for the hazard lights was bad.. I tuned on the hazard lights and only had one side, so i jiggled it and the other side came on. Then I pushed in the hazard button to turn them off and proceeded to check the brake lights, the still did not work so I again jiggled the hazard button and whaaalaaa the brake lights would flicker on and off.. I have a piece of cardboard pushing the button to the side to hold pressure on it keeping my brake light connection until I can get me a new hazzard switch.. Hope this helps..

SOURCE: Right brake light out; tail light works fine

most rear tail lights and turn/stop lights are the same dual filiment bulb. it is possible for your tail light to work and your brake light not to and still have a bad bulb. I would check the bulb first, your brake light works on the left yes? this would mean that the fuse is fine

SOURCE: rear tail lights not working

If both tail lights are not working it is likely to be a fuse or bad connection under the hood or a connector at the back see if you can trace the wires to a connector and see if it is dirlty or corroded.

My signal lights went out on my 89 Buick I've already changed the fuse but it still doesn't work where else can I check

That happened in my 1999 Buicke Century. Replaced the bulb 4 times kept burning out all within a week. Finally replaced the blinker socket and no more issues.

1999 Dodge Ram 1500 - Right rear tail light won't burn for tail lights alone, but will still blink for turn signal and light up for brakes. Bulb was replaced with no effect. Left still works.

The bulb has two filaments; one for brakes and turn signal, the other for tail lights. One filament is probably burned out. Replace the bulb with a new one

How to fix my right brake light and fast moving turn signal on my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

The most likely problem is two burned out light bulbs. A burned out tail/stop lamp on the right side and a burned out brake lamp on the left. If you have already replaced the bulbs, then yes, the circuit boards are the next most likely cause of the problem.

Passenger blinker keeps failing. Replaced bulbs several times. Is it the circuit board at the tail light? All other lights work fine. I am speaking of the rear turn signal.

Did you ever test the bulbs or the circuits to the bulbs before replacing them? Circuit board failures are very common. One can usually verify if it is a citcuit board by tapping and/or twisting a little and making the bulb go on and off.

My 97 plymouth breeze's right rear tail light went out, I changed two bulbs. Now my right turn signal clicks at twice it's normal rate. Is it most likely Bulbs, fuse, or a pesky short.

It is most likely another faulty bulb in the turn signal circuit.
Ensure the indicator bulbs are replaced with the correct (specified) wattage rating.
Check you haven't dislodged or otherwise lost the ground connection to the rear tail light bulb sockets.

Bulb only illuminates when i engage turn signal.

Hi: tail is on its own circuit and utilizes the longer thinner element in tthe bulb --- the brake and turn utilize the short thicker element in the bulb---- two different circuits. If bulb fails on tail ligh then the bulb is more than likely burned out. When you take the bulb out, look at the elements and you should see a broken thin filiment. bulb is bad, replace. good luck

Brake light wiring reversed?

hi go back to bulb and make sure the bulb you have fitted is for indicator? this has only one element and has only one centre contact for power also check the side pins on the body of bulb they should be opposite one another and on same level as you look on side however here in uk some of these bulbs are the same as above but for the locating pins as described above the pins are on same level but not opposite each other so if you try fitting should not be able to fit easily bayonet suggest you check the other side rear light bulbs one at atime to ensure correct type are what you have fitted stop and tail light bulbs have two elements one for brake and one for tail light these locating pins are oposite each other but not on same level offset to ensure the elements are on correct circuit when fitted hope you understand ?

Brake lights quit working

Tail lights acting insane?

We had the same issue with our 2000 Pontiac Montana. Brake lights, turn signal lights, running lights, back-up lights and emergency flasher didn’t work at all or operated at random. The cause: poorly designed aluminum contacts on the tail light circuit board and wiring harness connector arced over and disintegrated with normal use.

Pull the tail lamp assembly, remove the electrical connector and look for burned contacts on the connector plug and the connector socket (they call this long plastic piece with the socket the circuit board: it includes the four bulb sockets. Replace the circuit board and the wiring connector.

You can DIY this job with basic auto mechanical/electrical skills and tools. The two circuit boards and the two connectors set me back $230 (2009 cost) for new parts. The electrical contacts on the factory replacement parts are improved.

I needed a T-30 torx driver to remove the tail light assembly (you need this to change out bulbs, too), wire cutters, wire strippers, electrical tape and an electrical lug crimper to do the job.
