SOURCE: FAx Line will not pick up or send faxes on HP 6110 All in One Officejet

Hi,

it seems like you have lots of services on your line. here are the things that i want you to follow to somehow resolve the issue.

1. Press the setup button on your printer, then use the arrow down button to scroll down and go to ADVANCE FAX SETUP.
2. Press okay on Advance fax setup, then it will give you options.
3. The first option is DISTINCTIVE RINGS, press okay on that.
4. It will give you first option "DISTINCTIVE RING", scroll down and look for "answer on double rings" then press okay. then try letting someone send you a fax.

Note: make sure that your answering machine is using your home telephone line so that it wont affect the faxing functionality.

1. if the issue still not resolve, try to press setup, then go to TOOLS.
2. press okay on TOOLS and it will give you options, scroll down using the arrow down button and look for RUN FAX TEST.
3. Check the result of the test if everything passed!

Let me know if the issue still not resolve so that i can go ahead and give you additional steps.

thank you so much.

SOURCE: set up fax and dsl using one phone line

You can buy a splitter to put on your line so you can run both devices. They sell them at the dollar tree big lots and everywhere else usually, and range from .59 to $2. as far as another DSL filter ask a friend neighbor or co-worker if they have or had dsl and have an extra filter. If not then you can pick them up for a couple of bucks at radio shack

Error #252

This is a poor fax line error. The line quality has noise or some issue causing the fax receive /or send to fail , often people use the same line for faxing and ADSL (telephone provided internet) and this will cause noise on the line. To fix this I have used a noise filter that came withe the DSL router from the Telco. sometimes ive even had to use two, one on each end of the phone cable before the line was clear enough to send and recieve faxes without a problem. If this is not your case, have the person sending the fax do one at a time or vice versa. Hope that helps you Gurvy

I'm confused on how to hook up the phone that came with the all in one. also does the telephone company have to do something for me

No you hook up the Hp to the phone line using a phone cord and your all in one can send and recieve faxes anytime and auto answer. If you have a 2 wire cable box for internet highspeed you will have to put a filter on it and you can get that from the phone company for free. So if you have a phone splitter you can have the fax on the same line as your phone and your computer.

I've been trying to send fax for a couple days now. The fax is connecting, then it never connects and a sheet prints show Error 388. I've tried plugging fax into new jack and all, but it still doesn't...

This error shows that there is too much noise / interference on the line for a valid connection between two fax machines to complete. The noise problem might go away over time.

Solution

Check that the phone cord is plugged in correctly on the printer and in to the telephone Jack. Also check that the phone cord is not damaged in any way. If you have other devices sharing the phone line on the premises or sharing the phone socket than disconnect them to see if this allows the fax to be sent successfully. This could also be a general problem with the phone / fax line outside of your premises and could even be at the receiving end. Try faxing a message to someone else. Then retry the fax reception at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved. Call the telephone provider if line conditions fail to improve.

How do you set up fax phone on the HP officejet 6215

hi you really have a very good choice of printers is one of the best printers from hp
inorder to set fax on ur printer you should first be sure what type of telephone line you are using
there are 2 type of line 1 dedicated -> that is directly attached for fax and has no other telephone or TAM connected if you have this line you can directly attach the phone line on the printer line 1
the other type of line is shared that means you use the same line for phone and fax in this the connection should be as :- telephone line from wall jack to the printer line 1 then from printer ext port to telephone answering machine (if any ) then from answering machine to telephone (if u have a dsl line that means u use phone and internet from the telephone line then there will be 2 lines comming out of the splitter 1 to router and other to telephone here follow the shared line connection mentioned above using the line that goes to the telephone )
now power on the printer and press the setup button (menu) now navigate to basic fax set up press ok and then go to rings to answer it should be 4 rings now go back and go to advance fax setting and then to distintive ring (DRP) select all rings and press ok now run fax test if it passes then ur fax is set up try sending fax now hope this will help you

Problem receiving faxes with hp officejet 7110

Most likely it is a phone line problem, not ypur machine. Fax modems work or they don't work.

make sure your phone line is not digital.

I need to fax something on a Canon MX310 all-in-one printer. I'm not connected to an actual phone line, I'm on a router that I share with my roommates...Can I still fax something?

not like that. A router connects a network to the internet. It works on digital signals whilst a fax works off analog signals so the two aren't compatible. You may want to try a program called bitware which specialises in faxing via the internet. But if your printer has a fax just connect it to a phone line and then you can fax stuff.

Faxing

Hi,
To fix this issue I would need some more information,

1. Is it a dedicated phone line Or sharing phone line?
2. If it is a sharing phone line then do you share it with an answering machine or a voice mail?
3.If it is an aswring machine or voicemail.. then how many rings has it set to answer?
