TG-603PG switch wiring

This switch is for a 3 way system (2 switches controlling one light for a stairway or hallway). The black wire goes to the special coloured screw on the old switch (common). The common wire is either the original live wire feeding the 3 way system or it is the final wire that leads to the light fixture in a 3 way system. All 3 way systems have an either or wires called traveller wires that can be swapped from either end of the 3 way system. the red wire and the red wire with the stripe are to go to the 2 remaining wires that were on the old switch. Those are the traveller wires. If you have a green wire it goes to the ground (a screw at the back of the switchbox or any green or bare wire found in the box)

Look at product number again to see if numbers posted are correct.
Also include what type of device this is: rotary dimmer? slide dimmer? touch dimmer? Switch? single-pole application or 3-way? And include what you are replacing.

Motherboard installed in computer case;
Processor to the Top, 3 Ram Memory slots to the Right, 5 white PCI slots to the Bottom;

Down in the Bottom/Right corner, is JFP1, and JFP2.

The Front Panel header is JFP1. (Junction Front Panel 1)
The header with two rows of pins, and is positioned Horizontal. It is parallel to the bottom of the motherboard.

(The other Front Panel header is JFP2. It is positioned Vertical, and is above JFP1. You may be using it also. Read on)

There are two rows of pins for JFP1.
5 across the Top, 4 across the Bottom.

The pins on the Top row are numbered ODD.
The pins on the Bottom row are numbered EVEN.

Top row, starting from the Right side, going towards the Left;
Pins 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9.

Bottom row, starting from the Right side, going towards the Left;
Pins 2, 4, 6, and 8. There is NO pin 10.

A) Pins 1 and 3 are for the HarDDrive activity LED light.
Pin 1 is for the Positive ( + ) wire.
If the Harddrive activity LED light is dim, when the harddrive is active, switch the wires around.

B) Pins 5 and 7 are for the Reset switch, IF a Reset switch is used.

C) Pin 9 is N/C. Not Connected. It is/was for the factory.

D) Pins 2 and 4 are for the Power On LED light. A Power On LED light that has 2 wires.
Pin 2 is for the Positive ( + ) wire.
If the Power On LED is dim when the computer is on, switch the wires around.

E) Pins 6 and 8 are for the Power On switch.

Looking at JFP2. (Junction Front Panel 2)
Vertical with two columns of pins.
3 on the Right side, 4 on the Left side.

The Right side is numbered EVEN.
The Left side is numbered ODD.

Starting at the Bottom on the Right side, going Up;
Pins 1, 3, and 5.
Starting at the Bottom on the Left side, going Up:
Pins 2, 4, 6, and 8.

A) Pins 1, 3, and 5, are for a Power On LED light, that has 3 wires.
Pin 1 is for the Positive wire. (Dual color LED )

B) Pins 2, 4, 6, and 8 are for a Speaker. The speaker for BIOS Beep Codes.
Pin 2 is for the Positive ( + ) wire.
Pin 8 is for the Negative ( - ) wire.

you are missing something
you describe 3 led lights --2 green and one unlit then you go on about a red led light
suggest that you get in an accredited electrician to check the circuit
it is possible that you are testing with the wring tester

This is single-pole -or- 3-way dimmer

1) Manual says: The red/white wire is not used in a single-pole application. Twist a wire
nut over this wire for a single-pole application.
2) Green wire connects to bare ground wire. Or bare ground to bare ground.
3) Connect dimmer-red and dimmer-black to either insulated wire that came off of old switch

Having said that, can I assume that the red, white and black are all coming from the same romex? If so, the trick to doing this properly is to understand how the 3-way switch at the other location is wired up. In other words, of the red, white, and black wires... only TWO of those wires are connected to the other 3-way switch (I'm assuming this is a 3-way circuit given that you bought a 3-way product). Once you've identified the color of those two wires, on the dimmer, attach each of those two wires to one of the red wires coming out of the dimmer. The remaining wire coming out of the wall (red, white, or black) should then connect to the black wire coming out of the dimmer.

Double check the model number - is it a TG-600PH or a TG-603PH?

If its a TG-603PH, and this is part of a 3-way circuit (there's another light switch that turns the lights those same lights on & off), then this is normal. If you flick the other light switch, you'll then see that the dimmer works like it should. This has always been the case with 3-way switches, up doesn't necessarily mean "on" and vice-versa.

If its a TG-603PH, and this is part of a single-pole circuit (this is the only light switch for those lights), then the product is miswired, and upside-down. To fix the miswire, look at the screws on the back of the unit (ignore the green grounding screw for the time being), two of those screws are made of the same material (same color), and only one of them should have an electrical wire going to it. Take that wire out and put it on the other screw of the same color. That fixes the miswire. Then when you re-install the device, flip it upside-down from what it was before.

If its DEFINATELY a single-pole, TG-600PH, then call their tech support center at 1-800-523-9466 - because that makes absolutely no sense.

Look at the pinout of the Front Panel header, of the eMachine W3400's motherboard.

The plastic front of the computer is the Front Panel.
The area of pins on the motherboard, that the cables (Wires) from the Front Panel connect to,
is the Front Panel header.

The motherboard for an eMachines W3400 desktop computer is an MSI ms-7145
(Micro Star International)

Orient the motherboard in your view so that we are both looking at it the same way.
Processor to the Top, Ram Memory slots to the Right, white PCI slots (3) to the Bottom.

JFP1 is the Front Panel header.
(Junction Front Panel 1)

JFP1 is on the Bottom Right corner. There are two columns of pins arranged vertically.
(The JFP1 header runs parallel to the Right side of the motherboard)

The Left side column of the JFP1 header is numbered Odd.
Starting at the Top and going Down, the pins are numbered;
1, 3, 5, 7, and 9

The Right side column is numbered Even.
Starting at the Top and going Down, the pins are numbered:
2, 4, 6, and 8.
There is NO Pin 10

A) Pins 1 and 3 are for the HarDDrive Activity LED light. (HDD)
If the LED light is dim will operating switch the wires around

B) Pins 5 and 7 are for the Reset switch. (Reset button)

E) Pins 6 and 8 are for the Power On switch. (Power On button)

Trace the wires back to the Power On switch. Even if it means temporarily removing part of the Front Panel to see.

Same with the LED lights.
See which wires go to the Power On LED, and HDD Activity LED. (Harddrive Activity LED)

Follow the 3 wires, and tell me where they go to on the Front Panel.

Firewire port? (a1394)
