I have compaq v3702au. I have tried to install audio driver for xp,but error message display like MEDIA Device not found. and this is 2nd time, i am doing earlier i had done it & fails, i had put conexant audio device which worked fyn but now after again installing windows i have installed all drivers but sound driver is asking for media device n when i install media device from net it asks for modem drive.
XP sure.
we are not HP (compaq ) why not ask at HP forum real for 1000x better and faster answers, yah?
the correct drivers were at HP support page, after 10 years,
they drop support. XP is dead so Microsoft Plug in play is now dead.
as is VISTA this year.
if at wits end, I do this. (ask) how.
what I do is use PCI scanner to learn what chips is there SOUND.
then go to the makers site and get it from them, on legacy machines
that is all you can do.
You didnt buy the HP media kit so only this is found.
ok you luck out today, its 2008 machine 1 more year and its gone

who's disks are those.
HP or MS? we cant guess install disks or there sources, even home made and clone disks are sold, some full of virus.
what do I do if hell bent on missing drivers
easy, I use a PCI scanner to find that chip.
i scan it and find its chip makers name and chip number (easy) then go to the makers site
and get the XP driver, if it existed at all there it be.
google finds this. (hard to navigate but./...)

sp12345.exe is hp installers btw.
if the exe runs and tells you wrong driver
it is, wrong, (for OS or wrong chip)
the inf inside THAT SP, shows NT message, (means works in XP too)
I guess this is the secret HP FTP sever.

Id look there first. see yours above.

You do not have suitable driver to work smoothly. you can download latest driver from manufacturers site.
