Rick, Thanks for your response but I am still confused about what to do. What is the electronic control? Is it one of the circuit boards? Another person said that the fault is a temperature sensor failure; to repair first replace oven temperature sensor. If F5 remains, I have to replace the main relay board (which Thermador no longer produces or stocks). Is there a connection/relationship between the Electronic Control you mention and the Relay Board?
Also I failed to mention that the oven makes a "clicking" sound before the F5 fault code appears. And when BSH replaced the display unit last spring, the tech had trouble connecting it to the Oven Control Board. Wondering if it's possible he accidentally loosened a wire connection that could have led to a short circuit and eventually to our current problem.
Please clarify "electronic control" and how to fix. Thank you very much DanRick, Thanks for your response but I am still confused about what to do. What is the electronic control? Rick, Thanks for your comments. Model # is SC302TS. Looks quite similar to photo. BSH replaced the display board because it was unreadable -- the LCDs dimmed to the point that we couldn't read the display. Found out that BSH issued a technical service bulletin on display, so got them to replace it for free. The F5 problem came without warning. Top oven just stopped working while bottom convection oven is fine. I turned off power to the oven at the breaker for 15 minutes per BSH recommendation, but this did nothing. The F5 code appears about 3-5 seconds after I try to run top oven (enter temp, press bake). Any help would be appreciated. DanRick, Thanks for your comments. Model # is SC302TS. Rick Thanks for all of your advice. Turns out that the parts BSH replaced last spring (to fix the failed LCD display unit) included both the display panel and the electronic/power relay control board. BSH is going to replace the entire assembly ( display, relay control board, wiring harnesses) under warranty at no charge to us. Perhaps this was a problem that didn't get diagnosed when they came out for the display board or maybe the components they installed were faulty. Don't know. But BSH will provide all new parts and labor for free.
Also, I've seen a lot of comments/complaints about fading or failed display boards in both Rhermador and Bosch wall ovens. This is a common problem and once the display begins to fade (LCD line segments go out), the display unit will fail. It's not a problem that starts to occur and suddenly stops, leaving you with a partially legible display. Key point is that BSH issued a TSB (technical service bulletin) on this exact issue in 2009, so they are aware of the issue. If you press them, they will replace the components for zero labor and will usually offer you a deal on the parts (they offered us 50% discount). The stated reason for parts not being free is that oven is xx years old and beyond one year warranty period. After the first repair, we sent a certified letter to BSH and asked them to refund us for the parts charge as well as for a prior display module repair, for which we paid out of pocket. They sent us a full refund. We argued that their TSB was an acknowledgment that they knew the unit was defective, they failed to alert purchasers of the problem (via letters to registered customers), and that we as customers should not be responsible for a defect that was clearly within the design/manufacturing process even if the warranty expired. (Car companies issue TSBs all the time and don't charge customers for repairs). In the end, BSH did the right thing. And now, given that their initial parts replacement repair failed, they will fix it again at no charge.Rick Thanks for all of your advice. I have seen tons of controls go along side the touch pad but this is not the main issue when it comes to a thermador in my opinion. The main issue is the cost of these units where customers pay 8-10 grand for a very nice looking piece of equipment in which after 5 years I have seen them discontinue parts on the units such as the 486 models and the oven tempreture control. Hopefully with there new managment this issue will no longer happen on there newer models like it has on there older ones. Great news on getting your unit repaired by them always better when the customer doesn't have to pay for a control issue. If you have any further questions message me back and please also remember when our chat has fully concluded to rate how this opinion has helped in your appliance situation. Tempreture sensor would be F3 error code the control it mentions in the service manual is the main control board in the unit but that service manual is very generalized to thermador. If you can provide the exact model number to your unit fully ,or is the sc302t correct that is up the top? I can give you not only a specialized diagnosis but also schematics pointing out which parts you would need to replace. Also you wrote that thermador replaced the display 6 months ago correct I have not looked at a schematic of your unit as of unit but if your unit looks like the one at top on left side showing a double oven the main control is located in back of the display and if I remember correctly is also connected to the display as well. I will await your reply before further posting a solution. It is also possible the tech did not diagnose the problem correctly and once he found an issue with the display did not proceed with further testing of the control board as well. Question why did they replace the display? The display is able to work due to the main electronic control. Frigidaire Error Codes
Error Code: F0, F1, F5, F6
Code Description: Electronic oven control failure
Solution: These codes indicate a malfunction in the electronic oven control. The electronic oven control (EOC) may also be referred to as circuit board, control board, mother board, ERC, or clock. Unplug the appliance for about 10 minutes to see if the error code will reset itself. When you reconnect the power, if the error code is still displayed, you can test the temperature sensor with an Ohm meter to determine if it has the proper level of resistance. If the oven control is failing or defective, replace it.

that's a bad door latch,if you use the self clean don't use it anymore, the oven gets up to 1000 degrees and damages the electronics in the oven, takes out the clock assy. the door latch things like that.part number WPW10195934 go here to see parts go here put model number in and look up parts, also you can check all the error codes down in bottom right hand side https://www.searspartsdirect.com/model-number/RBD305PDB14/1198/0125300.html?searchType=modelSearch&q=Rbd305pdb14&searchTerm=Rbd305pdb14
go to upper oven and look at part number 22,you should have googled the error code before you changed out all those parts.
Hello, welcome to FixYa. Based on your post I understand you have an error "FC" on your Thermador SC272 wall oven, correct ?
There are two common scenarios with these Thermador wall ovens fitting what you've described. Either the lower oven control board has failed or there is a communication error between the control board and the display. Here is an exert from my Thermador service documents explaining in their terms...(hopefully it won't get partially cut-off when I click "submit" as it sometimes does with attachments, that's out of my control unfortunately). In either scenario I'd suggest calling in an authorized B/S/H/ (Thermador/Bosch/Gaggenau) service technician since it is pretty involved to trace and possibly replace (hopefully not) any failed/faulty component on these units. Hope this helps move you forward. Let me know if I can assist you further and good luck.
Hello, The F5 ERROR code means that the self check that the control (also called clock)board runs to check itself has failed and the control has detected a problem within itself and the control must be repalced.
Sorry you haven't had an answer to your inquiry yet. You may not even require a remedy any longer, but in the event you do I'll post it.
The "F5" in the smw272 wall unit is indicating the on-board watchdog has detected a oven temperature sensor fault/failure. The remedy issued by Thermador's tech support and authorized technicians service manual's is to first replace the oven temperature sensor. If the display should still display after wards, replace the main relay board.
It may be too late to suggest, but you may be best served having an authorized thermador tech look at it.
Hope that helps, better late than never hopefully.
For some reason I get the same error code every time we have a power outage. If you push and hold the "lower off" button for about ten or 15 seconds it will unlock and reset. Hope this helps.
I have the exact same problem with an F5 fault code. I also have a new clock assembly. RepairClinic.com said "Jenn Air fault code F5 = Hardware and watchdog circuits disagree / Replace clock assembly (also called the ERC)
Jenn Air Fault code for newer models F5 = Power to element relays disabled in cook mode 1. Intermittent oven temperature sensor or wire harness or, 2. Intermittent contact on power relay board" This doesn't help since it is too technical. What should I do next?
Rick,
Thanks for your response but I am still confused about what to do.
Thank you very much
Dan
