In laser printers, the drum helps to place toner powder on the paper according to the required printout.
Then the fuser unit heats the toner powder to permanently 'paste' it to the paper.
Seems like your fuser unit has malfunctioned.

Toner rubbing off the page after printing indicates a fuser unit problem. The fuser unit uses heat and pressure to "fuse" the toner onto the paper as it passes thru. It sounds like you wither have paper wrapped around the rollers or a bad fuser unit. I would do research on the availability of a fuser unit in your area or someone local who can check the fuser unit for you.

This would be a issue with the fuser core, you can purchase a maintence kit witch replaces this core, and the rollers and transfer rollers.

My canon pixma 5420 won't copy or print - gets info from my laptop, is listed in the que, sounds like it's printing, then spits out a blank page. Won't copy.

Common problem is (If inkjet printer) clogged ink cartridges. Try removing cartridges and wipe jets along a paper towel dampened with isopropel alcohol. If little or no ink on towel, clean or replace.

How can i print both sides of paper on my magiccolor5550

IF you have the optional duplex unit installed on your printer then when you go to print something, your printer setup screen should have a duplex/2 sided printing box you can check. This will be under printing preferences or properties. If you do NOT have the optional duplex option then you have to manually duplex. That means on say a 2 page document that you want 10 copies of you have to print 10 copies of page 1. Then take those 10 copies and place them back into the paper tray and print 10 copies of page 2 onto the backs of page 1.
Those are you 2 choices for duplex printing.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

My Kodak esp 3200 won't print labels on Avery label pages. WILL print the labels on regular copy paper. Any suggestions on what to do?

I am having the same problem except you didn't address the problem. It's not that the printer prints badly, jams or crashes. The printer literally passes the label paper through the printer and then prints on the next piece of copy paper. I reset my printer not to print the last page first and it still did it. Then I put the label paper second in the feeder. It passed through the first piece of copy paper and the
labels and printed on the third. It's like the printer senses the thicker paper and skips it. My printer is a Kodak ESP C315 and I have no setting for thick paper only plain and photopapers.

How do I use my printer as a duplex for making copies on both sides? Thanks Roxanne

The printer does not support duplex coping. If you want to do manual duplex copying, you can make a copy of the first page.
Then reinsert the paper upside down in the manual tray or paper tray, fil the page on the document feeder and make the back copy.

No print on copies or faxes

This is a clogged print head. This happens if the printer has been off for a long time or if the cartridge was removed and the unit left empty for any time.
Take out the cartridge and press the print part on a piece of paper. Any black lines? If not, you will need a new cartridge. Wiping the print head gently with a Q-tip moistened with PURE alcohol (99%) may restore printing.

Extremely slow copying

Cartridges may give a very slow printing if internally damaged, or :
When using colored paper in the all-in-one, printing or copying is slow. This issue is a result of the automatic paper type sensor misreading the colored paper as photo paper. The print out takes longer because the unit is printing in Best mode instead of Normal mode.
  1. Click Start , point to Settings , and then click Control Panel .
  2. Double-click Printers and Faxes .
  3. Right-click the appropriate all-in-one, and then click Printing Preferences .
  4. Click the Paper/Quality tab and under Type is: select Plain Paper . This sets the default paper type setting to Plain Paper.
Hope this helps.

Mark on page

First try to clean the head: Open the top cover and print head, Moisen a small piece of soft, lint-free cloth with alchol and keep wiping the edge of the print head... second, This could also be caused by excess lubricant on the tonercartridge . Print or feed up to 10 sheets of paper through the printer to eliminate the marks. If the problem continues please contact Brother Customer Service at 1-800-284-4329 Monday through Friday, 9:00am - 7:00pm EST, excluding holidays.
