I'm trying to print several pages, but the feeder gets stocked with the first page and doesn't advance anymore. I have to make copies of send a fax one page at a time.
A solution, please?
I'm trying to print/fax several pages but the feeder doesn't "grab" the paper--basically nothing happens...BTW, mine is the HP Officejet Pro L7780 All-In-One.

Hello! An automatic document feeder or ADF is a feature which takes several pages and feeds the paper one page at a time into a scanner or copier, allowing the user to scan, and thereby copy, print, or fax, multiple-page documents without having to manually replace each page.
If the automatic document feeder (ADF) does not pick up any pages at all, the rollers
inside the automatic document feeder need to be cleaned.
If the automatic document feeder picks up multiple pages instead of single
sheets, the separator pad inside the automatic document feeder needs to be cleaned.
SolutionLoad one or two sheets of unused plain white full-size paper into the document
feeder tray, and then press Start Copy Black
to pull the pages through the
automatic document feeder. The plain paper releases and absorbs residue from the
rollers and separator pad.NOTE:If the automatic document feeder does not pick up the plain paper, try
cleaning the front roller. Wipe the roller with a soft lint-free cloth dampened
with distilled water.
If the problem persists, or the automatic document feeder does not pick up the plain
paper, clean the rollers and separator pad manually. Follow the procedures below to remove the face
plate from the front of the automatic document feeder, access the pick assembly
inside the automatic document feeder, clean the rollers or separator pad, and then
reattach the face plate.
This is caused by dirt/debrise on the ADF (automatic document feeder) scanner glass. You need to open up the feeder where your originals are fed in and look for a strip of glass that runs from front to back. It is about an inch or so wide. You need to clean this glass to get rid of the lines. Some models have this glass just to the left of the large main glass, but in your case I beleive it is in the feeder itself.
Good Luck.
Sometimes the originals hesitate using the document feeder, which can cause the problem you are describing. Do you get the same rsults if you lay the original on the glass?
I have noticed that these rollers can wear to the point that they no longer make proper contact with the paper regardless of cleaning. (Especially if you frequently print to paper of varied thicknesses) Try using a card stock sheet in the automatic feeder, if the problem goes away, you will need to replace the rollers to print to standard letter.
If it's only one page.. just place it on the glass face down.
When faxing muliple pages you must place them in the automatic document feeder located on top of the machine.
Place all originals print side up (up to 35 pages). A message will show up in the display letting you know original were loaded up properly. Let me know it this helps.
Most likely there is something on the seal glass, Open the feeder and look at the small strip of glass, see if it is dirty.
the other possibility is that there is a streaking problem in the drum cartridge or in the fuser in that area. Start with the glass, then look at the drum, You will most likely find the problem on one of those 2 areas.
I really suspect a small spot on the glass where the paper passes over when making the copy through the feeder
