USB connection to the printer wireless is loose. I need to figure out if there's a way to fix that

  • chessmanjk Aug 29, 2011

What tools do I need to fix this. I won't have access to the screwdriver for a month? Or is it not worth it and is it better to just replace it.

Hello

I want to clarify first, which part is not working? Is it the USB connection or the wireless connection? Try using a different USB cable.

Hello,

You may be able to fix it if you open it up and resolder the usb pin contacts to the electronic board. Sometimes they get loose and start wiggling around from to much plgging in and out. It might be a lengthy process as you will need to take the printer apart to do it. If the usb pins inside the usb connector are damaged you can buy new ones off of ebay and solder that to the printer.

Regards,
Chris

Canon printer won't print wirelessly

there is always a way to fix things,

it may be the settings in the printer itself. it does need to be configured to work on the network, you will need to see if it is on the network firstly. then setup ip settings afterwards to get it going, then a re setup on the computer.

If you would like additional assistance with setting it up I am available to do it with you on TeamViewer so you can watch what I do for next time.

Cant set up cannon mg3170 wirelessly

Hi Rachel,

I know this isn't exactly help, but I thought I should say something.

I had a similar canon printer which connected to my wireless network and then after a few days decided that it had had enough of wireless printing. I did everything including a reinstall. I then took it back and got a new one. This strangely did exactly the same thing, so I took it back and got a refund and am now happily wirelesly printing on an Epson printer.

Sorry this isn't a solution,

Darren

How to stop orange wi fi light from blinking

The blinking WiFi light on your printer could indicate that it's trying to communicate with your wireless network or it's not connected to your wireless network anymore. A quick fix to this problem can be achieved by rebooting your system. Simply unplug and re-plug your printer and your wireless router into the power outlet and reboot your computer. Once everything turns back on, check the status of the WiFi light and try to print again to verify that the problem is fixed.
You can also do the following steps to reset the printer wireless network adapter:1. From the printer operator panel, press the Setup button.2. Select Network Setup.3. Select Reset Network Adapter.4. Hit the OK button.
The WiFi light will momentarily turn off and then on solid orange. You can then try to reconfigure the printer to connect to wireless network using the Lexmark Wireless Setup Utility application on your computer. Go to Start menu > Programs > Lexmark 4600 Series folder > Lexmark Wireless Setup Utility. Simply follow the instructions on your computer screen.
However, if you wish to have it connected directly to your computer. Simply connect the printer with the USB cable that came with it in the package.
Should you still need assistance, please leave a comment to my response and I'll get back to you. Should this resolves your problem, your rating will be greatly appreciated.

Cannot get the wireless connection to work on the printer. The USB cable is connected to the back of the PCU. I've installed and uninstalled twice and nothing. It did work when I first got it and...

Here are some guidelines to identify and fix your wireless communication issue:
  • What is the status of the Wi-Fi light on the printer? Green light means that it's connected to a wireless network while Orange light means it's not connected to a network.
  • Try to print the printer's wireless network settings to determine if it's connected to your own wireless network. On the printer operator panel, touch the Setup button > Network Setup > Print Setup Page. Your printer will then print the its wireless network information page. Ensure that the printer is connected to your network by checking the Network Card Status, Wireless SSID, Quality or Trouble Code.
  • If printer is not connected to your network, you may need to reset your printer's wireless network settings. On the printer operator panel, press Setup button > Network Setup > Reset Network Settings. The Wi-Fi light on the printer will momentarily turn off then back on to solid orange. You can then run the Wireless Setup Utility application on your computer to reconfigure the printer to connect to your wireless network. On your computer, launch the Lexmark Printer Home application > go to Settings tab > Wireless Setup Utility. Please follow the instructions on your computer screen.
If you still need assistance, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for additional assistance.

Hi i have the canon mp490 all in one printer and i was just wondering how to i get things to print from my lap top

1) Install the network adapter on the printer, if necessary. Many wireless printers have the adapter pre-installed, but if this isn't the case, turn off and unplug the printer. Then, remove the back cover on the adapter slot and place the adapter into the slot.

2) Plug in and turn on the printer. Then, insert the drivers CD that came with the printer into the CD drive of the computer. If you've misplaced the CD, the drivers can be downloaded from the website of the printer's manufacturer.

3) Configure the network adapter. Once the drivers installation has loaded, select "Using a wireless network" and then select "Next". Usually, there is a User Agreement at this point, to which you will agree and press "Next".

4) Connect the laptop to the printer using a USB cable. Connect one end into the USB port on the back of the printer and the other end to a free USB port on the computer.

5) Finish configuring the network adapter. After connecting the laptop and printer with the USB cable, select "Create or modify the printer's wireless settings" and then click "Next".

6) Connect the printer to a wireless network. The wireless setup utility will automatically open after the adapter has been configured. Find your wireless network in the "Wireless networks found in your area" and select "Next". Then verify this information on the next screen.

7) Connect the laptop to the printer through the wireless network. Now, disconnect the USB cable. Make sure that both the laptop and printer are connected to your network. If they are, you're now set up.

I have a laptop which is hooked up to a wireless router (Belkin) and NOBODY can get my wireless kodak printer to work on this system including the tech who came out from the cable co.

How is this printer connected to your PC? If it's connected wirelessly, I would suggest connecting it through a wired connection (if is has Ethernet capability) and trying to install it again. Even if you need to relocate it near your router it may very well fix your problem. Most wireless printers have annoyingly poor wireless cards in them, resulting in problems. you would then install it as a network printer and you can access it from any PC's in range of the router.
If this not have an ethernet port, then I would try connecting it directly to a desktop PC (via USB), and you could share it with other network users. In my experience this works very reliably, with only one caveat: for print jobs to go through the connected computer has to be on.

My wireless printer hp deskjet 3050 is not printing the wireless blue light keeps blinking and does not go solid like it used to what do i do?

if the wireless blue light is blinking, it means it's not connected to the router or it's not communicating with it.If wireless blue light is solid ,it means it's connected to the network.
you will need to reconnect the printer to the network by using a USB cable.it will configure the wireless connection.
  1. to start the installation ,click on the start button on the computer
  2. click on programs or all programs depending on the operating system on the computer
  3. look for the HP folder and then left-click on it
  4. inside the HP folder,left-click on DESKJET 3050a or DESKJET 3050 series
  5. inside the DESKJET 3050 folder, left-click on product setup and software
  6. left-click on connect a new printer
  7. it will open up a page with options on how to connect the printer
  8. select wireless and then hit next
  9. if you are prompted to connect the usb ,please connect it
  10. if it asks you whether printer is connected to the network, select no
  11. click on next
  12. if usb is already plugged in,tick the box that says it's already plugged in
  13. hit next
  14. wait for the prompt to unplug the cable
  15. try printing wirelessly
let me know if these steps do not solve your problem.

My lexmark x6650 printer will not connect back online

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. If your printer is connected via USB cable to your computer, simply disconnect the printer from your computer, reboot your pc and unplug/re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When everything turns back on, reconnect the printer into the pc. Wait for the computer to fully recognize the USB connection. Try to print again.

I cannot work out how to connect my printer with my d-link DIR-655 router. When I take the printer USB out of my computer and plug it in to the USB port on the router, I cannot print from mycomputer. I...

Hi,

You cannot set the printer up directly on the router as the router needs to have a driver to understand how to use the printer. If you have a wireless printer, you need to enter a wireless key on the printer, you'll have to do that from the printer interface (you didn't list your printer model so i'm not sure how exactly you do that). On my wireless printer there is a nice network setup menu on the touch screen display.

Then you have to install the full drivers for the printer and tell it the printer is connected wirelessly and it looks for it and finds its IP address and allows you to connect to it.

If you do not have a wireless printer, and need to print wirelessly, you will need to buy a print server.

Photosmart C4380

delete the old installation and reinstall the printer again and do the reconfiguration for either USB or wireless. It worked for me when I did this. The scanner begins to work and no more 'no USB or wireless connection' msg anymore. :~)
