Sony KV-40XBR700 40" CRT WEGA

    I
had the TV repair company come out & look at this TV. It was
$79.00 for the service call. If I agreed to have them repair the TV,
this fee would apply towards the repair. They took the back off the
TV & poked around inside for about 10 minutes. They found a loose
PIP (Picture In Picture) Module. They removed the module & re
installed it. Everything works perfectly now. Somehow they felt
justified in charging me $150.00 for the service call & the
repair. They were in my house for less than 25 minutes & no
matter how many times they tried to explain it, I couldn't understand
the extra charges. I paid the bill, with extreme objection &
sent them on their way. TV working great, still upset about the
    extra cost of the repair.
    I guess the important
thing is that this great TV is working again. Thanks for looking. Good
    Day.

I too would like to know the solution to this question...we are having the identical problem and Sony doesn't seem to know how to fix it. Although, the picture from the DVD player is perfect, the pictures for cable & video games are terrible. Very frustrating!

Sony Vega Service Codes

KV-32HS510 and KV-27HS420, seven times blink error code shows problem in Horizontal deflection circuit.

There are many possibilities like dry solder joints, weak capacitors, Horizontal transistor short or flyback transformer fried etc.

If you have little experience of TV repair and good solder skills and have necessary tools to test / check defective parts, then you can make it. you also need to have related service manual to see board location, schematics and part numbers.

The 6 blinks mean no horizontal. Check the horizontal circuitry. I'll look up your specific model later and post more details.

Sony wega model KV-32FS12

Probably a defective horizontal output transformer , also check the horizontal output transistor. Both parts available from tritronicsinc.com

Goldstar tv

leak of voltage going to mainboard, the 120v suddenly decrease after a whiloe to zero you mean short circuit. it is not power supply problem as you say that it drops to zero after connecting main board. it clearly indicates that problem in horizontal output section.

No picture and no sound,

Something shorted and shut your set down. Most likely the high voltage transformer shorted which also shorted the horizontal output transistor. Stargazer

Sony Trinitro 36" HD TV

There is a circuitry problem with the scan control, this is a job for the "Shop" as I always advise get a firm "Quote" B4 prceeding with any fix... Generally these days there is no Horizontal/Vertical Hold, as such, it is all done by the Compter Chip inside.
