When installing a strainer does the rubber washer
Yes. The cardboard washer is the last thing before the nut and the rubber goes next to the sink bottom. The cardboard washer is to keep the nut from grabbing the rubber washer so it stays flat.
Also over time the rubber will stick to the nut and if you ever need to take it apart it keeps that from happening.

I have an old Kohler
Hi,
There should be a nut there that holds everything together...remove the nut and the guts will come up and out...
I usually use a pump pliers and a rag...to make sure I don't mess things up...
If the shroud of the handle totally covers the nuts then don't worry about the rag...

Weak water stream. How do
Usually, low pressure or volume in a faucet is due to a plugged up aerator, which can be unscrewed from the output and cleaned, or a chunk of something partially plugging the supply valve.
Have you cleaned the aerator screen?

I have a single handle
If the faucet was working before and then just stopped, it is the mixing valve or a
clogged supply line.
turn the water off and remove the mixing valve. Turn the water on and see if you have good flow from both hot and cold ports inside the faucet.
Caution- this procedure can get messy, close the shower
curtain or door.
Call
Kohler and ask for a new mixing valve for free.

Place a few drops of vinegar into the screw hole and wait a little bit. Try
removing the handle
again, sounds like it is just stuck on the cartridge stem. The handle should come off first, and then the bonnet.
Here's the parts breakdown for your faucet from
Kohler.

When hot water is turned on the pipes make this
Hi,
There is a loose washer in the faucet...this flaps as the water goes through it and makes the vibration...
You either need to replace the faucet or the cartridge (washer) in the faucet that valves the water...
This will stop that vibration and hammering sound
