Frigidaire FAA068P7A Air Conditioner Questions & Answers
The display is only showing one out of the two digit temperature setting. How can I fit it?
window air conditioners are great for cooling a room and even to take the heat out of a house. I have done it for years now here in Florida and have central air but rarely run it like today it is about 90 and I have only one window unit running and it does a great job. When It goes out I will go to Wal-mart and spend about 150 buck and just buy a new unit, ( maybe less) get the 5000 btu if you can. What I am trying to say is don't bother fixing that unit, they are a throw away item.
I purchase this aircondtioner at
Hello, if the unit is blowing warm air it could be due to
1) low airflow due to dirty air filter or evapoartor coil
2) low refrigerant charge
3) compressor is not engaging.
check the filter first an let me know if it is clean
I have Frigidaire Thru-the-Wall electronic
Follow these steps to remove Bad Odors From an Air Conditioner:
•1
Locate your air conditioner's condensation drain line.
•2
Remove this line and flush it with bleach water to kill mold and mildew. Allow this to dry thoroughly before you replace it.
•3
Find the drip pan located near the heat exchange on your furnace. Remove this tray and clean it thoroughly with hot, soapy water. Allow it to dry and then put it back.
•4
Lift the top of your air conditioning unit to expose the inside.
•5
Use a flashlight and visually inspect every area of the inside of your unit. Look for anything that would cause odor or smells such as rotting vegetation or dead animals. Remove all debris.
•6
Spray foaming coil cleaner and allow it to sit for five to ten minutes. This will soften and loosen dirt, grime and oil.
•7
Hose out the unit. Continue to run the water through the unit until the water runs clear.
I clean the filter almost everyday because it
The evaporator maybe dirty. You can flush it water. There is also a spray available at A/C supply for cleaning evaporators. Anyway the evaporator is the radiator looking thing at the front behind the air filter. Air passes through it to provide cooling air. It gets very cold and if the air cannot pass through it will freeze.
Air condition unit will not cut back on after
Sounds like you're trying to re-start the AC too quick.
Since the compressor has to 'equalize it's pressures' before it will start (after being cut off) - you will always need to give it plenty of time (after cutting it off) before turning it back on.
If you are referring to 'automatic' operation - it is the thermostat that 'cycles' the unit and this is determined by the 'rise and fall' of temperature.
Thermostats are notorious for being a little out of adjustment and as long as the AC is cooling the space I would not worry too much about it.
If it gets to be a big problem - you will probably need to change out the thermostat, but I would have a Service Tech check out the complete operation of the air conditioner.
good luck!
Does the 8000 BTU unit need 15 or 20 amp wiring?
Find the nameplate ratings if they are still readable for this unit to see what they recommend.
Ideally a seperate circuit for this unit.
#14 minimum wire for 15amp
#12 minimum wire for 20 amp
Hi, my Frigidaire AC (FAA068P7A) unit was working
Sounds like a breaker has tripped (caused by the unit) or is it might just be 'off' for some reason. I would check the outlet (where the AC plugs in at).
If the AC is a 110V unit you can check the outlet by plugging in something else, i.e. a hairdryer. If the hairdryer doesn't work either - then you know your breaker is tripped. On the other hand if the hairdryer 'works' then you know the problem is in the unit, where I'm afraid you'd be better off to have a technician to trouble-shoot it, although you could try sending additional information at this point for more help.
Remember if it is a breaker tripped - it was probably tripped by a malfunctioning Air Conditioner so if it 'trips' again in the immediate future you will need someone to check it out.
good luck!
No power
change the plug the GFI goes bad in those all the time that should solve the problem
Compressor don't kick in
The Main reasons that this will happen
1 - A bad run capacitor (silver or metal capacitor)
It’s either shorted, grounded or open.
If it’s shorted a lot of times it will bulge out, (sometimes slightly)
2 - A bad start kit ( plastic capacitor and Relay connected to it )
The capacitor is either shorted or open
The relay either has an open coil between terminals #1 and #5
Or the relay is stuck.
Any time you change the capacitor or relay you should change
the other, especially if they are over a year old.
3 - A loose, burnt or disconnected wire
4 - Wired wrong
5 Compressor is open (windings burnt open)
6 Low on charge not getting enough cooling back to compressor, (Feel top of compressor to see if it’s hot it shouldn‘t be)
7 Some compressors have a black plastic overload under the compressor cap which could be bad.
Checking the filter
If it is a paper or fiberglas filter it needs to get tosswed. If its a screen type it is washable. Take it out spray it with a mist from a hose from the reverse side to get the dust off, let it dry.
Then just reinstall.
