The recordings simply reside on your pc, but not in the "Digital Wave Player" software. The software is merely there to let you play the recordings, probably because they are not in a native Windows format.

If the recordings are "Wave, .wav" files as suggested by the software, then simply locate the files you want to put on disc... I am guessing you want to burn on cd.

Then, use a burning program such as Nero to add these files and burn to disc.

If you don't have Nero, then you would need to figure out what type of burning software your machine has installed and go from there.

How can I clean up a voice recording. There is alot of background noice drownding out the voices. Any help would be great

You can schedule for automatic recording, specifying the start time
and end time of recording. When the timer-controlled recording
completes, the setting is released.
In Menu mode selection... SET, On, OFF→After selecting SET, press the PLAY button to set the time to start the recording.

Unfortunately this is something that can not be done with this model. Since the computer does not see this as a removable disk drive it is not possible to write data back to it. The only thing you are able to do is to record files and download only. It does not have any upload capability.

I called Olympus and found out that the software needed is the same as is used for Windows XP. So download/install that from their site + the drivers/update for windows Vista (works with 7 as well).

There are many steps in installing Digital Wave Player on VISTA, it is important to follow every step since installing Digital Wave Player on VISTA is dependent on this process.
Install a VN recorder on VISTA
*************************
1. Make sure the device has been uninstalled in device manager
2. Make sure the old version of digital wave player is uninstalled.
{Delete Temp files in Internet Explorer --Tools--Internet Options --Delete Files-- Delete offline content--OK}
3. Install digital wave player (The newest Version).

4. Install the 2.1.4 vista update

5. Restart the computer.
6. Plug in the VN recorder to the USB port and turn the recorder on.
"Found new hardware" will appear,

This may fail, if you see VNUSB device, skip the final steps and proceed to Digital Wave Player to Download files from the Digital Voice Recorder.
If you will see "Other devices" listed in Device manager with "digital voice recorder" underneath it.
8. Right click on the "digital voice recorder"
9. Select update driver from the pop up menu.
10. Choose the browse computer Option
11. In the next window make sure the CD drive the digital wave player disk is located and is listed in the window
12. Check the "include subfolders" box.
13. Click Next
A security warning window will open,
14. Choose "install anyway" and the device will install.
When successfully installed you will see the "other devices" disappear and a VNUSB device with a "VN series device"
underneath it appear at the bottom of the device manager list. There will be a blue question mark next to the device. At this point you can close the device manager and the properties window and open Digital Wave Player. You
will see the recorder listed underneath the recorder folder and be able to download and use the program normally now.

You will all need to call Olympus to have the software be emailed to you as it is not available for download from their website. The telephone number to call is 888-553-4448 option 5 and then option 2 for Digital Voice Recorders

Unfortunately with this device the VN-2100PC it is not possible to rewind and overwrite any dictations that were done. Each time the record button is pressed and then the stop button is pressed it will create a new file. They may want to look for a DS-2300 or a DS-2400 recorder as these devices have the ability to rewind and allow you to dictate over previously recorded information in the same file. There is a button on these devices called "New" that allows you to stay within the same file until you press New to start the next audio file.

Resetting the Recorder (CLEAR)
This function resets the current time and other settings to their initial
status. It is useful if you are having problems with the recorder, or if you
want to erase the entire memory of the recorder.
1 Hold the STOP button, and hold the ERASE button for 3
seconds or longer.
2 Press the FF or REW button to select the “YES”.
3 Press the PLAY button.
