Questions & Answers
I can't find the drivers for my Olympus Digital voice recorder VN-2000PC. What can I do? I can't tranfers my audio files to my PC.
Do you need the software/drivers for the VN-2000PC or the VN-2100PC? The software for the VN-2100PC is available here: http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_support_downloads.asp?id=1270
. Select your OS and you'll find the software.
The VN-2000PC doesn't connect to the computer via a USB port. To transfer your files to a computer, connect the earphone jack to the line In (blue) jack of the computer with a 3.5mm to 3.5 mm audio patch cable. Use a program like Audacity to record the audio track during playback. Make sure to set the Audio input to Line In. (In Windows 7, click Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound. Under Sound, click Manage Audio Devices. Then select the Recording tab and set the input device.) Then set the recording device in the software as well. Click the Record button in the software and then start the play back on your VN-2000PC. You should see a flat line for a bit then see a wave form start. If the line stays flat, you haven't set the Line In device properly.
I hope this helps.

Tried to download Olympus VN-41000PC
Welcome to Fixya. I would like to clarify what do you mean when you said that "it attempts to take over my Photoshop Elements program, and therefore does not install". Does this means that Photoshop is blocking the installation?

I have an Olympus VN-2100PC
This should show up in my computer as a mass storage device.
according to the website you do not need a driver for it.
Because this recorder is a Mass Storage Class device, Windows® and Macintosh® operating systems treat it as an external drive. Files can be transferred between the recorder and the computer using standard drag and drop or copy and paste techniques.
The Digital Wave Player software that ships with this recorder is supported by Windows® 2000 Professional, Windows XP Professional and Windows XP Home Edition. Subsequently, Olympus has released software updates that add compatibility with 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. For details, please visit the VN-2100 PC Software Downloads page.
The VN-2100PC is not compatible with Macintosh™ operating systems.
