HP Compaq nx6110 PC Laptop - Page 2 Questions & Answers
Laptop wont come on
It is damaged. The whole replacement NX6110 (good working laptop) is available on eBay.com for $50 + shipping, so I think it is easier and cheaper to buy a replacement laptop than to fix this laptop.
New memory nx6110
Did you remove and replace 1 or 2 RAM modules? There are 2 modules installed. One is internal and one is external. Both MUST BE OF THE SAME DENSITY OR THE LAPTOP WILL NOT WORK. You will need a second 1GB RAM Module, then use the link below to download the service manual for your laptop. Accessing the internal RAM module is fairly easy...follow the directions and you will have not problems. You CAN remove the internal one and operate the device on the single 1GB module, but I would recommend if you do that, you put the 1GB module in the internal slot. Then later, if you wish, you can add more RAM without additional disassembly. By doing this you will at least double your RAM from the 512MB you had to !GB. You can double it again with the second RAM Module to 2GB later. .
GO Here. Find Remove/Replace procedure for Internal Memory Module.
Intermittent power
verizon put in a shutdown code so you cant get to verizon program to shut it down, the only answer i know of is to install a net hard drive
Don't know why it won't work
You won't be able to. Your on board graphics does not support it. You would have to update your graphics card and with your laptop you are unable to do so.
Problems
You have to remove the wireless card adapter, if it is inserted into one of the accessory card ports on the laptop. If the wireless adapter is installed internally in the computer, consult your user manual on how to remofe the wireless adapter.

Hp nx6110 laptop is power lock what is unlockng process
Disconnected the RTC battery will unlock your system. See the steps below. The more important it is to protect on's data by a DriveLock (which makes the HDD usuable when the password is not available).Procedure to remove password (following CPQ MSGs)1.) Unplug AC, take out the main battery.2.) Take out /disconnect the RTC (real time clock) battery for app. Half an hour (the period of 5 min as specified in the MSG normally is not long enough).3.) Plug in the AC adapter (batteries still removed); computer should boot automatically, if not use the power button.4.) The machine will boot and show the 162-error-msg "system options not set". Use F1 to save the settings.5.) Shut down the computer and disconnect AC power again. 6.) Re-connect the RTC-battery. 7.) Install the battery pack(s). 8.) Restart the computer.Warning: All settings are set back to factory standard. You'll have to enter a correct date/time and change the settings to your needs.Note: Pls strictly keep to the sequence. Re-starting with the main battery and or RTC-battery inserted will spoil the job.
