I have a hotpoint microwave replaced the hood
I expect you will find you now have a short circuit bi polar switch. It means that as long as there is power to the unit, it will be on permenantly. It is part of the control panel.

Bottom element in oven not
It may well be open circuit. Remove from the mains supply before attempting to remove the covers and to remove/test the element.
Most online suppliers, espares etc will supply replacement elements by model number.
Hope that helps.

The turntable on my hotpoint
Check to see if the glass is fitting properly on the motor slots. Sometimes they can work loose - which will make it not turn. Good luck!

Hotpoint stove model RF7640S1HT.
The white colour wires are the common one and should be 0 volts and the red is the live one. The two white wires are because the common connection it usually double in many points since it connect all common of the appliance together. So you are in the correct way the two wires are both common. In your case should be connected together however the voltage difference even the 40V is not normal. However you can check the voltage difference of both the white wires with metal body of your stove which must be 0V.

Will not heat, you can
Your probably hearing just the fan. If the primary part, (the magnatron), is bad you'll get no heating. With the cost of microwaves dropping dramatically you may be better off buying a new one, rather than replaceing the magnatron.
BTW, replacing the magnatron is not a DIY job.

Having just taken delivery of
Somehow in the process of selecting the language, the new selection isn't being "set", and that's usually by hitting some button to change it permanently. Refer to the manual and review your steps. It's entirely possible that the manual is erroneous, and an extra button will have to be pushed to seal it.
I found this blog on manualsonline.com:
i cannot change the language on my hotpoint i've tried everything in the manual any ideas

Same problem here
When moving the machine into the house the language was accidentally changed to something I can only guess is Czech. Does anyone know how to reset the machine or change the language back to English?
Many many thanks.

RE: language problems
You need to press the bottons stated on the manaual for a few good seconds until it beeps. Once it beeps will turn off, once you turn it back on you can then change the language to English again.
Perhaps that will help.
Anyway, good luck, thanks for using FixYa, and hope this helps.

Oven turns on when I open the door
This
is usually caused by either a bad door switch or a loose door switch
mount, which are pretty simple problems to fix.
Door switch
or mount trouble is usually caused by slamming the door or by opening
the
door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.
There are
plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and
onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.
The screws on these
mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be
activated properly.
Sometimes it's
a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just
out of position. This tab
can be hard to see, since it is under the
bottom edge of the switch.
If the switch mount is
broken, it's usually more economical and
safer to add a dab or two of hot glue to the mount to secure the
switch. Let it cool for about 30 minutes before using.
One test that sometimes
helps is to
gently lift up (and/or push down) on the door or handle as you try to
start it. If it works or tries to work, then it's a door switch mount
or
door alignment issue.

I recommend that you bookmark that

There
should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit
behind the
control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is
very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating
components.

our Web site, we have a video
available showing how to remove a typical
over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.
