HP Color Laserjet 3550 Printer - Page 2 Questions & Answers
When I print there are smudges on the sides and
Ghosting and problems on the edges are often caused by a bad fuser. Remove the fuser from the printer and have a look at it. The upper roller in the fuser is the heat roller and it has a teflon cover on it. If that roller looks dirty or has toner accumulated on it or the teflon cover is shorter than the other roller or has visible damage then you will need to replace the fuser. The good news is that supplies for this printer are very reasonable in price.

I get an error message that there is a paper jam
Often when you get this error, there is a jam that is very difficult to see. You need to open the printer, remove the bottom two cartridges and the transfer belt. Then close the door part way and look straight down inside the printer. That part of the printer is called the registraion assembly and there is a paper sensor in there that often gets stuck with a small piece of paper after a paper jam is removed. You can carefully lift up on that assembly to unseat it and have a look underneath..

Hi, you have to tell the printer what you did: menu > configure device > resets > new material > new fuser
(the wording may not be quite correct - the menu on ours is not in English - but I am sure you'll find it :-)

What did you clean? If it was the Image Transfer Belt (the big mylar belt in the front), do it again. Print and see if the yellow is smearing again. If it is replace the yellow cartridge.

My HPLJ3500 Color Printer wont print black even
Run the PQ troubleshooting diagnostic.
See if the black is printing.
If not, run the Disable Cartridge check. This will allow you print with only one cartridge in the printer. Take out all the cartridges. Put the black in another slot and put the cyan in the black slot(the top). Print the config page. If the black is printing, is the cyan printing. If black isn't printing the cartridge is bad. If black is printing and cyan isn't something is wrong with the printer. If they are both printing put them back in the correct locations along with the other two colors. It isn't the printer.

If you already have tried to calibrated but it didn't worked then the defect is hardware - the control processor of the printer is no longer capable of adjusting the page setting of the different colors . The only way to fix that is to replace and realign the rollers - it can be done but it's not an economically viable option : it's so expensive that with a few more money you could buy a brand new printer.

Run the "disable cartridge check"
It will be in the Diagnostics.
Once you start the test, you can remove all the cartridges. Put the cyan in the black cartridge slot.
print a config page. If it is all blue, you have another bad cartridge. If it prints correctly(minus the other colors)...continue
Now put the magenta in the cyan cartridge slot. Print the config page again. If you have red all over the page, you have a problem with the slot itself.
Press the STOP button and then select EXIT diagnostics. Put the cartridges back where they all go and run CALIBRATION more than once.

We have an HP 3550
The most common reason that causes a fuser error is its failure to reach operating temperature.
If the fuser area can be accessed, check to see if there is noticeable heat present.
If not, the fuser may not be getting the required voltage to bring it to temperature and you may need technical help to determine the exact cause of the error.

My HP 3550 won't print black when it is out of a color.
restore the properties.... set as "print in grey scale" or "print color as b/w images"...
also if the print become less or more dark you can change the settings to print whit more intensity or less...
there is no necesary change all your documents as "watter ink" only change the print options to fade to black

Jam in front door. I
Hi
Thanks for using FixYa. First,
verify that there is actually no paper jam (open all the doors, take out the
paper tray, take out the cartridges and visually inspect). Turn printer off and
unplug the printer from all cables (power, USB, etc). Try to hold it upside
down and gently shake it so that if there is any paper inside it’s removed. If still
it’s not resolved then clean the print head. To clean the print head take a hot
water towel with the printer unplugged and the cartridges out, clean it till the
time you see there is no ink residue on the towel. Please do accept the
solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.
Thanks
Rylee

Left side of documents print very light
this could be a problem with the tonner or the configuration of ink... in both cases try with another catridge or tonner, if the problem solves then is because the cartridge or tonner no have enough ink to print
...... if the problems persists maybe could try verifing the configuration of your printer or re instaling the printer too...

My HP Color Laserjet 3550 Printer wont print black
The 3550 won't print in any color if any of the colors are out. You'll have to replace the color ink that's empty to get it to print.
In the future, if you're just printing black and white, you can select "Print in Grayscale" from the print properties to just use the black ink cartridge, which will help the color cartridges to last longer.

Printer selects tray1 as default tray. how can
Tray 1 by default is set to any size, any type, which means that no matter what you print, it will pull from tray 1. You can change that by setting tray 1 for a specific size and type, such as 8.5" x 11"(Letter) and Plain paper, and then going into the print driver options (Control Panel, Printers & Faxes, right click on the HP 3550 and select Properties) and under the paper input tray, change it to either tray 2 or 3.
