Toshiba Satellite AC Adapter?

You can use an adapter with a lower or the same voltage, but not higher voltage. Also it should have similar amperes. Also it needs the same polarity. That's the +/- indicator. This page has a positive polarity symbol:

There's no need to pay ridiculous amounts of money for an exact brand name adapter.

Windows xp setup halts

This generally indicates that the disc is corrupt. It can be anything from a scratch, degraded read section on the disc, or a distortion from the disc getting bent or hot (left in direct sunlight). You will most likely have to use a different disc for the install.

Completely black screen

Hi,

I had the same problem before. I think Toshiba had a problem, because when I removed the battery and switched it on again it was working.

After that you can put the battery again.

Try that.

Processor or motherboard replacements

you need to compare the specs closely. if they are suggesting that the cpu's are direct upgrades for that laptop i'm not in a position to refute it. but read the specs

Satellite a65 problem with atheros wireless driver after XP Pro SP2 installed

Hi,

Perhaps what is required is to install the drivers separately and use those from the manufacturer, Toshiba. Incidentally, there are 18 versions of a Satellite A65, which one is yours pls? (Versions start from S1062...S1762).

Pls start here and select Portables, Satellite, and A65 + Version, then click on "Show Results" button.

Alternately, you may want to jumpstart and try this for the RTL8139 and/or this for the Atheros WiFi. Both are for Windows XP.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Removing memory from Satellite A65-S126 Toshiba laptop

The built in 256 is integrated into the motherboard, and is not removable. If it's faulty, then, unfortunately, the motherboard will have to be replaced. There's no other way around it.

Hard drive wipe issue

It appears you have some kind of web access so I woulld start at the Toshiba site to look for drivers and download to an optical disk for installation into your laptop.
Most public libraries have terminals and on request, on your cost, they will burn a CD for you or allow you to burn one on your own blank.
Those drivers might also be already on whatever Toshiba disks supplied with the system.

Fail to load files during text mode setup

Maybe its a software problem, have you tried putting in a bootable XP installation CD? After the bios boot and it asks you to boot to CD, press R for repair, it will try to repair your OS, and if it is an OS problem ,then it will boot once again... If not you can try formatting your HDD and reinstalling windows...
