After the repair kit is installed you must perform the convergence adjustment. If after you access it all you command have no effect then the kit has ben either defective or badly installed.
But, in Hitachi's of that age, it might have also been caused by a power source failure: the convergence board isn't powered. Have you tested the voltages at the board?
We have a convergence problem that Magic Focus
Projection TV sets are known to have two common problems. The first problem that is common to these sets is convergence failure. When this happens the TV will usually look 3D, Wavy/Distorted, etc. It may also shutdown and blink an error code.
The second common problem with Projection TV sets is dull video, halos around objects, white looking video, or red overpowers the screen. This is commonly caused by the fluid in the lens being clouded overs.

I have waves running up
hi
depending on the waves if it is light dark bar rolling from bottom to top it may be a defective
capacitor in IF section or interference comming
for ex:defective neon sign leaky electric power transformer etc. If it is a slow moving
wave but no bars you have a defective power suply regulator and I don't suggest you try to fix it yourself
I have a Hitachi rear
The clicks are discharges that the high tension are causing on the blue crt because the tube itself is defective and must be replaced The flicker is caused by the spark when it occurs the voltage on the tube drops and that lowers its luminosity.
As a last hope take out the back cover, access the tube, try to locate the spark and see if you can shift some pieces to stop it from happening.
Hitachi ultravision rear projection 60 in picture flics off then back on.
Unplug tv
Check the red wire & the seal boot on the "Flyback Transformer"...the wire may be loose & need to be shoved back tightly into the transformer...then seal it extra with black tape
be careful back there there are capasitors that still hold a charge even if tv is unpluged...if your clumsly you could get a bad jolt!
If that doesen't fix it; you may need to replace the "Flyback Transformer" itself...(about 8 or so sodder joints)
you will need to either pry the red wire out or cut it if there is enough extra...if you cut it you will need to strip the end & get a new barbed end for it at Radio Shack" of some other electronic outlet.
Good Luck,

Your best bet is to check with local repair shops and see if they may have a used one as these screens are rather expensive. These screens are actually lenses. Also they are two, sometimes three layers thick. The two layer screen is composed of a Lenticular (outside) and Fresnel (inside) lense. The third layer sometimes used is in front of both of these and is a protective screen. You can live without this one if necessary.
Hey there recently my screen just went haywire and
Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.
This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.
Common Symptoms include....
•Screen looks 3D
•Colors don't line up
•One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
•Screen is bowed or warped.
•TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.

Hitachi projection tv seems to be stuck in surge
Hi
Thanks
for using FixYa. Please try to reset the Projection TV by turning it off for 5
minutes. After 5 minutes unplug the TV power cord from the electrical outlet and
let the television remain without power for more then 1 minute. Plug the power
cord back into the electrical outlet. If the television is plugged into a power
surge protector, remove it from there and plug it directly into the wall
outlet. Turn on the television. If the issue is resolved, then the problem is
with the power surge protector and not the TV. If the issue is not resolved
then this might have happened due to over-voltage. Please check the power
supply unit for swollen/bulged capacitors and burnt wires/components on the
power supply board. You should try and turn off the TV for 8-10 hours to reset
it. Please make sure to turn off and unplug the TV for at least 1
hour (this will drain off current from all components especially capacitors)
before you perform any repairs. Also note that the TV consists of very high
voltages even when it is in off condition. All this is only recommended if you
have electrical expertise and know how to solder/re-solder components. Please
do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further
assistance.
Thanks
