Tv comes then turns off in about 30sec

This brand seems to be having a lot of problems, if not the caps on the power board etc you may be done as parts are just a little too hard to find for these sets.

My tv is having a problem turning on. the power

I have seen this before; takes several tries to get it on and gets worse and worse.

All these sets (not just your brand) have a standby power supply that runs 7/24 even if the set is not on; One of the areas these companies cut corners on is filter capacitors in the power supply.

Let us say they hve a unit with a 9 volt standby voltage (it is on all the time) and to save money they put capacitors rated at 10 volts= a tidy savings if you produce 10,000 units and the difference between 10 volt rated caps and 16 or 24 volt rated caps is a nice piece of money.

They do not care as the unit will usually last a year or two and then fail.

The good news is if someone opens the unit (UNPLUGGED FIRST) AND does a visual inspection they will be able to SEE the bad caps.

The caps are perfectly flat on top and the silver material has creases in it: a bad cap can instantly be seen and this is the first thing to look at: see attached photo of the typical type of cap.

I have seen units where anywhere from five to ten caps were bad; same kind of problem occurs in tower type computers; If you shop around the caps are pretty cheap and marked with value and voltage rating along with a minus and plus for positive and negative----each cap only has two leads and are fairly easy to replace.

There is no magic bullet for this: someone has to open the unit and look at the caps.

Just put a new power

Simple test: get a powerful flashlight and point it at the screen from up-close - if you can see the image the ballast board (the one that powers the tubes that generate the back lighting) has failed, if you don't see an image it's the CPU board.
Here you can find the service manual

POLAROID 32" LCD TV FLM-3201.

This sounds like a problem with your power supply circuit board.

Often times poor quality components are used in the LCD TVs and they tend to cause the televisions to fail prematurely.

Bad electrolytic capacitors are the most common cause of power supply failures in LCD TVs.
You can sometimes visually identify a failed capacitor by its BULGING TOP or by the scorched gunk leaking from it.

If the unit is still under warranty, you should return it immediately to the place of purchase for exchange or refund.

If the warranty has already expired you will have to decide on a course of action. You can just buy a new TV, you can pay someone to fix it for you, or you carry out your own troubleshooting and then buy the replacement parts and install them yourself.

You have to weigh the unknown potential cost of repair against the known price of a brand new tv.
And don't forget the new tv comes with a warranty while the repaired one, in questionable condition already, just keeps getting older.

If the problem is in fact just the power supply circuit board, a television technician will probably charge you about $150 to fix it. But if that's not the only problem then there may be additional costs totalling hundreds of dollars.

Trying to repair your own LCD TV can be financially risky, you can end up spending a lot of money changing out circuit boards and still end up with an unreliable or even dead unit in the end. It also requires at least a little bit of skill, know-how and common sense in order to avoid damaging the unit further and to keep yourself safe while working on the electronic parts.

Let me know if you are willing to disassemble the unit yourself and conduct some testing and troubleshooting and I will help guide you through it with much greater detail.

If you were to log on to the manufacturer's web site, I think you will be pleasantly surprised as usually one is able to download, by model number, Customer Instruction Manuals, list of Dealers for spare part supplies and Driver downloads (if applicable) as required.

The information is normally free of charge.

I hope this helps.

make sure you have the correct video cable. if it uses HDMI, use highspeed HDMI cables. Same goes if you use display port and make sure the correct input source is selected on the tv.
