The dvd player takes the dvd but says
If it does it with a shop bought dvd then there is a strong chance that there is a fault on the unit.
If however you are using home made dvd's cd's'then that is a different situation and you should double check your source burning capabilities.

I have a poloroid 15
Most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. The most common thing to go out is the circuit board that supply power to the screen. Commonly called a Backlight Inverter Board.
But, I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet.
If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.
If not under warranty and If you have some electronic experience, if you can find and purchase a Service Manual over the internet; It will help you diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists. Usually, cost under $20. And most cases the new part cost less than $15.
I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.

Inconsistant turn on
This set has a history of power supply problems. The power supplies are NLA from the manufacturer - but if you make an inquiry to www.parts-link.com they will be able to supply you with a power supply.

Snowy channels
Check if your cable is on the right channel to be viewed. Go through 1,2,3,4 .... ect
and see if the looks any better on different channels.
OR check if the wires in the back are put in properly

Sounds like the back light is out, and the unit needs servicing. You can check this by shining a flashlight close to the surface, and if some image is seen, the the back light is the cause. Else the LCD driver is gone.

No pic
Hello Trashman1000 and Guest,
I would first check to see if the inverter and or the back-light is bad. To check if the back-light and or the inverter is bad take the TV to a dark room turn it on and then with a flash light shine the light onto the screen and see if you can detect a faint picture, if you can this means that the back-light or the inverter has malfunctioned. If you can not detect a faint picture and you have no sound either I would suspect the power supply board.
I hope this helps,
Thank you,

The fuse is ok, if it was bad the red led wouldn't come on.
Your power supply ma be good. it may be the main pc board is defective. If you are handy with a VOM and know how to take the tv apart check the power supply to see if you have the start up voltage (5 volts). If you have the star up voltage chances are that thepower suppy is good and your control panel is defective. WARNING HI VILTAGE IS DANGEROUS
