I just bought a gently used Innovis 4000d which came with a flash drive. 1st my computer will not recognize it when plugged in, 2nd when its plugged into machine it says to "Load USB media". Help

Unfortunately, you are missing some software. You need the original PE-Design software CD. Then you can install the Upgrade software from https://support.brother.com/g/b/downloadtop.aspx?c=us&lang=en&prod=hf_inov4000deus for your OS version. Until this software is installed, the computer will not find the driver for the sewing machine. The driver is not available from Windows Update. The USB drive may have new firmware that wasn't properly installed. To load firmware, insert the USB drive when the sewing machine is off. Then press and hold the Automatic Threading button while you turn on the sewing machine. Follow the directions on the screen (see the manual on page 224: https://download.brother.com/welcome/doch000013/nv4000ug04en.pdf ) . Turn off the sewing machine and then remove the USB drive before sewing. I hope this helps. Cindy Wells

What memory stick will work on a innovis 4000d brother embroidery machine

Most memory sticks will work, but the smaller capacity sticks work the best. If your stick has a lot of designs on it, the machine must read all the designs before bringing up any on the screen. Only keep a few on a tick at a time.

What is code TH-PM ? Brother Innovis 4000D... and how do I fix??

This is a pulse motor failure. You cannot fix this without testing mainboard and Pulse motor. Take it to a mechanic. Sorry for the bad news

Check and rethread the upper thread message on display screen appears often even when the machine is threaded

The thread may not be lodging firmly in the tension mechanism. Make sure that the thread is firmly settled between the tension discs. Also keep an eye on what is happening with the thread in the take-up lever (the arm that moves up and down with each stitch on the head of the machine) as the thread may be 'jumping' out thus causing the message.

Twin needle tension problem

Hi, Tania Chances are that you're using a universal point twin needle, designed for sewing on woven fabrics. Twin needles also come with a ballpoint which is what you need for knit fabrics A ballpoint or stretch needle has a rounded tip that will separate the knit fibers as it penetrates the fabric instead of breaking through them. A universal needle may not catch the bobbin thread on both needles when used on knit fabrics; this is necessary for proper stitch formation.

Skip stitches

some machine are not made to sew thick or heavy fabric Sewing machine skips stitches needle inserted incorrectly--flat side of the needle faces the shaft round needle--groove of needle faces away from the shaft Raise the needle bar to the highest point, then loosen the clamp screw to remove the needle. Place the new needle in the clamp with the flat side of the needle facing the back of the machine. If round needle--the groove in the needle faces away from the shaft Push needle all the way up to the stop or as far as it will go. possible bent needle--lay needle on flat surface & roll needle over, if the needle does not roll good -replace blunt needle point--needle makes a popping sound when needle penetrates the fabric--replace needle needle not all the way up in needle holder--loosen needle clamp screw & push the needle up until it stops then tighten screw incorrect threading--one step missed in sequence of threading can cause machine to skip stitches wrong needle in machine--check instruction manual--some machines can use a generic needle with no problem--some can't-- size of needle & thread not compatible-- Using the wrong type needle can cause problems,, A needle to fine for heavy fabric can bend or break when it hit's the fabric And a too large needle can make puncture holes in the fabric and pull unevenly while stitching

when a machine makes noise, that's not normal, it would be a good idea to have the machine checked.
