Why does my remote starter try (cranks over engine) to start the car but all of the sudden can't

Need to know make model and year. There are too many variables? Did you get an extra key made? did you blow a fuse? Is it a transponder equipped car? if yes how was the bypass-emulation done? Is your security light flashing when you try to remote start your car?

Remote starter wont stay started when cold

This is a common problem for remote start units that are installed utilizing the virtual tach (tachless) mode for RPM sensing. For the most part, it is a convenience for installation but it is not the most reliable. The only way to fix this is to have the tach wire of the remote start system connected.

How to wire a remote start 2004 ford f150

It depends on the unit that is intended to be connected. Normally all the details are provided on the manual of the unit but care must be taken to connect the protection for safety.The handbrake connection is important and should not be grounded so that the vehicle is triggered to start ONLY when the hand brakes are pulled and in neutral gear.the connection to the starter solenoid, the cut off from the ignition to the starter when the engine starts to run are important.

The valet switch on that model is part of the "control center". The antenna, LED and valet switch is all one piece and is most likely mounted on the top edge of the windshield by your rear view mirror. There's a small behind right by the flashing LED light. That's the button for programming different features of the system and programming in remotes. Hope that helps.

Make sure that the neutral safety wire (small black with white) sees a chassis ground. If you connected the toggle switch to the wire, confirm that the other side of that wire is connected to a good ground. Confirm that the hood pin switch wire (gray) is NOT seeing ground during remote start. All of the above are relevant for a vehicle with an automatic transmission. If the clicking sound that you hear is also flashing the parking lights, that is a remote starter error message. Six flashes concern the hood shutdown (-) or the brake shutdown(+). Seven flashes concern the neutral safety shutdown.

These issues can both be solved through programming. The crank time needs to be extended and the door locks (may) need to be set to double pulse. Can you unlock the doors by pressing the unlock button twice within one second?

Please read all the way through to familiarize yourself with the process before beginning.

Let's try the programming; you will need the vehicle key and the remote. The control/programming switch is located in the antenna on the windshield.

Turn the key on then off; press and hold the control button on the antenna to select the menu. One honk of the horn/flash of the parking lights indicates menu one(1). Now, press and release the button five (5) times (door lock pulses), then press and hold the button. While holding the control button on the antenna, press the lock button on the remote once. You should hear two horn honks/flashes from the parking lights. The system is now set for double pulse unlock. DO NOT RELEASE THE CONTROL BUTTON.

We will now advance to the third menu; release the control button, immediately press and hold the control button. After three seconds the system will begin to advance to the next menu. You will hear two horn honks/flashes from the parking lights. Continue to hold the control button to advance to the third menu. You will hear three horn honks/flashes from the parking lights. Now, press and release the control button three times, then press and hold the control button. While holding the control button, press and release the lock button on the remote. You should hear two horn honks/flashes from the parking lights. Two flashes/horn honks is .8 seconds cranking time. Release control button. Turn ignition on to exit programming/learn routine. Test the system.

If after testing the system , you require a longer cranking time; re-enter the programming/learn routine, menu three, option three and press the lock button on the remote once to advance to one(1) second cranking time.

The programming/learn routine exits if the ignition is turn on, the control button is pressed too many times or there is no activity for 30 seconds.

Have a mazda 6 GS 2010. When I use the starter in

I cannot tell you why the factory alarm is triggering at one place and not the other but I can tell you that the remote starter is not disarming the factory alarm.
In order to disarm the factory alarm, the remote starter must supply a ground pulse to the disarm wire at the body control module (BCM). The BCM is located in the driver side kick panel and the wire is black in pin "L." To arm the factory alarm, the same wire needs a ground pulse through a 1k ohm resistor.
I have not installed the 1401, so I am not sure if that particular unit has outputs for factory arm and disarm, most DEI products do have at least a disarm wire that is light green/black. This wire outputs a negative pulse that should disarm the alarm without the addition of relays. If 1401 is equipped with a alarm rearm wire it would most likely be green/white. This wire also outputs a negative pulse but it will not be sufficient in rearming through a 1k ohm resistor without a relay. The relay terminal would be wired as follows if the 1401 is capable of this feature:

30 = vehicle black wire (solder in 1k ohm resistor)
87 = chassis ground
87a = no connection
85 = green/white wire of 1401
86 = 12v constant (fused - 5A is more than enough)

under the dash there is a black/red wire, this is your starter wire, there might be a starter kill relay line line with this wire, unplug the relay and run a jumper wire from pin 30 to pin 87, this will bypass the relay

Extra chirp

Check to see if a door is not closed all the way or the dome lights are stuck on for some reason. Also check any other switches that might have been added like hood or trunk. The extra chirp after arming usually indicates something was not closed completely and the alarm will bypass that protected area until corrected. Delayed dome lights will cause this, but you would have noticed it long ago. DC
