The code is a code that has had a lot of controversy in this subject. I have provided a link to another site that will explain in depth on what the code is and what is needed to be done to get the job done correctly.

Hi
that code is cam sensor for the first question, the second one your daughters car sounds like either a battery earth problem or a alarm / immobiliser issue. quite common on that model, the dealer will know more worth giving them a ring for some advice before going any further with your daughters car.
Also your car have both the cam and crank sensor checked, crank sensor is normally p0017 but I have heard that p0014 code can be either.
Hope that helps

Hi, code P0300 means random cylinder misfiring, you have to check spark plugs and cables, Faulty coil (pack),Faulty oxygen sensor(s), Faulty fuel injector(s), Burned exhaust valve e.t.c
Code P0017 is the powertrain control module uses the crankshaft position sensor and the camshaft position sensor information is to monitor the correlation between the crankshaft and the camshaft position sensors if the deviation exceeds a calibrated amount dtc poo17 will set. You have to see the dealer to have this updated.
Code P0014 is for the exhaust cam actuator timing system. There are a few things that can cause this. Anything from the actuator solenoid, to the actuator, to an internal engine problem.
