It could also be a faulty component in the abs system, like a wheel bad sensor. Have the abs trouble codes read to find out exactly what is wrong.

Hi, when the brake light is on, there is usually a hydraulic issue or leak. First check the reservoir to see if you have lost fluid. If yes, check all wheels and lines for leaks. If no leaks and system seems to be working OK, maybe it's just an ABS wheel speed sensor. Those do not usually set the brake light, but every car is different. Check all the sensors for alignment to the tone rings. If problem persists, get the ABS scanned for trouble code.

Please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r6003525-abs_traction_control_lights . These are generic instructions. If you get stuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me with model, year and engine info.

Were those power come from that go to abs pump connecter i can't fine fuse or relay that send power 1990 cadillac fleetwood

If you follow that wire around you'll find the relay and fuse under the pump motor if I remember correctly however the hard pedal is almost always caused by a failed vacuum booster or the vacuum line between the engine intake and the booster, you don't have to disconnect the master cylinder brake lines to change the booster.

What to do with a brake booster out and the ABS light came on? 1998 Isuzu Trooper

Hi Rebecca,
Since the AntiLock Braking System utilizes the power (vacuum) boost to operate normally, the ABS indicator should come on if the booster fails. Yes, this means your ABS system is not able to function correctly, but neither are your standard brakes (as the extra pedal effort required to stop will tell you). however, your brakes DO WORK, so driving it to get the codes scanned shouldn't be too dangerous - just be ready to stand on the brake pedal with both feet and leave yourself plenty of room to stop by driving slowly and looking well ahead for stopped traffic. Once your booster is fixed, the ABS light should go off without any special reset or clearing of ECM memory. Good luck and happy motoring!

Hi, was in traffic today and suddenly my ABS light and warning sound suddenly came on and has refused to go off, my brake pedal also went stiff and the brakes are no longer sharp... pls what do i do??

This is noy good, i would not drive until repaired, it sounds like you have a few brake problems, the abs light is due to something in the abs system like a wheel sensor, in order to find that problem you will need a scan tool or have a garage scan the abs computer, when ever the computer sees a problem in the system it turns on the abs light and stores a code. the code will tell you what has failed and with some checking and testing the problem can be found and repaired. if you can get me the code or codes i can help you take care of the abs light, as far as the pedal getting stiff this sounds like a lack of vaccum to the brake booster or a bad caliper thats frozen. in order to check this problem you would need to jack the truck of the ground and spin each wheel to see if one is not spinning freely or wont turn, as far as brakes this is a safty thing and nothing to mess around with, but i will try to help you the best i can, after you check for a stuck wheel the next step is to check in the engine compartment and make sure the vacuum line from the engine to the brake booster is good, meaning its connected and no vacuum leaks, most times a leak will have a hissing sound, start with these tests and let me know the results, if this is something you are not good at then a shop is the place to go as i stated brakes are nothing to mess with is you are not sure what you are doing. good day.

Air Bag Light, Brake Light, & ABS Light came on in the dashboard.

Check and see if your alternator is charging
Low voltage will cause those lights to come on, as the computer is shutting down.

To check your alternator you will need a volt meter... WITH the engine running you should have about 14 volts coming out. IF NOT you need to replace the Alternator!

Do you still have the problem ? If so, try disabling the ABS completely (electrically) by disconnecting the 50 amp breaker and remove the ABS controller. You should have brake power restored and be careful as the brakes will lock now if you apply too much foot pedal pressure. I hope this helps.
