Hello, i have a 2006 trailblazer that has XM from the factory.I have never subscribed for the service thru XM. I want to subscribe to SIRIUS and use my factory headunit to controll the stations. Is this possible since XM and SIRIUS have merged? Will i have to add any other equiptment?

It takes scanner to do it. Not all scanners can do it. Call before going. Dealers can do it.

Does the radio in your vehicle have those capabilities? The XM feature doesn't come with the standard model. I would check your manual or contact the dealer you got it from. Not every car radio can have XM.

have you subscribed to the satellite srvice that your radio has ? sirius or xm radio? the only way to get these channels is to pay a monthly subscription

Have you checked the fuse?

The radio has a code. If you have the car's manual it will tell you how to display the code on the radio screen. Subscribe to xm and give them the radio code, and that is it. Helpful Hint : If you just want music and news and not all the other programs . XM has a 9.99 per month subscription, they won;t tell you unless you ask.. Good luck

If you are looking to convert your radio from XM to Sirius, there are a number of kits available by typing 'convert radio from XM to Sirius' into your favorite search engine. But why bother? XM and Sirius have merged and you can now get Sirius programming on the XM band.

Hi Xit.....The factory XM module is in fact located under the rear shelf trim panel. You will have to remove the rear seat cushion, just pull up on the front of the cushion about 12 inches in from left and right corners. Remove the cushion from the car. Open the trunk and remove nuts located on the seat back just under rear shelf metal. Back inside the rear seat area, remove the seat belt buckle bolts located inboard of right and left lower corners of the seat back. Remove the seat back. You will now be able to see the (2) plastic fir tree pins that hold the shelf panel trim in place. Remove the pins.
Now comes the hard part, remove the right and left quarter sail interior trim panels ( Caution: roof rail air bag located behind right and left panels) the fasteners are located behind the "SIR" plastic buttons in the sail panel trim.
All in all, unless you have the proper tools and take the proper precautions, you might want to take your Cadillac to your local dealer.
Buy the way, is there something wrong with your factory XM module?
