Trying to confirm if A/C compressor bad. When A/C

Trying to confirm if a/c compressor bad. When a/c cluch engages the engine rpm drops and rises. Is this because the alternator is drawing too much with siezed ac?

Before anything is done to the AC, have the throttle body cleaned. A dirty throttle body will cause engine RPM to drop or even stall.
What makes you think the compressor is seized? Does the compressor pulley spin when AC is engaged? If compressor was seized the pulley would not move and belt would squeal.

Hi..my 2009 1.3 toyota avanza had a idle problem when the a/c turn on.idle goes up and down and click sound on and off of the aircond compressor.normal idle if i turn ac off.what could the problem be.

there is an idle up solenoid on the the carburetor. adjust the idle speed at 800-900rpm. RPM up and down is due to a/c compressor engaging. if the rpm drops too low, a/c compressor disengages. observe your idle speed with engine warmed up, turn on airconditioner and adjust the idle compensating vacuum diaphragm adjustng screw underneath the carburetor to the same rpm when a/c was off. that should correct your rpm problem

Rpm drop below idle

What's happening is, the engine is under increase load when the A/C is running. Typically there is a solenoid (near the throttle linkage) that controls idle speed when the A/C compressor (clutch) is engaged. It activates each time the compressor cycles on to regulate the system. If idle returns to normal when A/C clutch is disengaged (or A/C is off), then the solenoid or some signal that controls the solenoid to maintain the idle is the likely to be the problem. e.g. The solenoid fuse maybe blown. This might be a good place to start investigating the problem. Best of luck resolving this problem.

Why does the oil engine light come on when i engage the clutch ?

Hi!

When a car is in gear with the Gas pedal pushed down, the engine RPM is high so the oil pressure is high too that means the Sending unit is detecting high pressure. But when you engage the clutch that means the gas pedal is released so the RPM drops and the pressure drops down too. So all i can say is that you might have a bad oil pump that needs always high RPM to keep the oil pressure normal.

Good luck

Hi! The MAF (mass air flow) sensor is surely faulty. The MAF has big contribution on the engine performance specially on the idling an vacuum supply. If the MAF is faulty the rpm will drop eratically or die. Regarding the overheating problem, you may want to check the radiator blower for it may be tripping that sometimes it works and sometimes won't. This can be a good cause. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

How to check if my clutch is good on my car A/C

Once it is engaged unless you are hearing any unusual slipping noise there is no reason that the clutch can go bad.
Start the engine rev up asking someone to be within and switch on AC to idle, now rev up the AC. If there is no visible signs of the RPM of the compressor dropping off the clutch is good. However if there is problems relative to cooling it can be failrue of the compressor, clogged evaporator or leakage of gas.

Toyota Camry 2002. AC button is green but the air is not cold. What is the problem?

could be many things most likely a problem with a leak in the compressor lines or the compressor clutch not engaging, cluch could fail for many reasons, bad computer bad wiring, blown fuse mechanical failure... best bet would be to check all fuses first then go under hood and see if when the ac is on Max cool with engine running weather u can hear a clicking sound when system is on or when it is turned off.... let me know

If i start the car and then start air conditioner the rpm is not automatic increase but decrease what i do?

the rpm will first drop because of the compressor clutch engaging. it should normally drop and then return to normal idle once the computer compensates for the compressor kicking on.
