Check engine light 2007 ram 1500 hemi. I've owned

Check engine light 2007 ram 1500 hemi. I've owned it for 2 months, it now has 41000 miles on it and the check engine light just came on. is this a standard milage for the light to come on?

  • Anonymous Jan 14, 2012

Check engine light should not come on at 41000. If the truck is running fine then it probably is an evap leak at the fuel tank. Check all the small vacumn hose at the top area of the fuel tank to see if 1 is cracked or unplugged. Replace if neccessry with rubber vacumn line.

There is no standard interval for the CE/MIL light. You need to get the codes scanned at a local AP store to see what codes you have.

The problem may be related to technical service bulletin TSB 03-001-07 which involves replacing the front axle actuator disconnect and a software update. You should be able to Google the TSB and look at the build date listed in the bulletin to determine if it applies to your vehicle.

2004 ram 1500 with 5.7 hemi using 1 quart every 3,000 miles

Slide a large piece of cardboard under the truck after driving for ten minutes note in which area directly above the spot on the cardboard the oil is coming from then get under the vehicle with a drop light to look for the origin of the leak, if no leak is detected then it may be the engine is burning oil this could either be valve stem seals or broke or worn oil rings.
