The electronic EGR valve and solenoid assembly (3) is attached to the front of the right cylinder head (1). An exhaust gas routing tube connects the EGR valve to the intake manifold.

where is the egr valve on a 2005 dodge 1500 5.7L - 2efe0f8.gif

Disconnect electrical connector (1) from EGR solenoid (2). Remove two bolts (3) connecting EGR tube (4) to valve assembly. Remove gasket located between EGR tube flange and EGR valve assembly.

Remove two mounting bolts (2). Separate valve assembly (3) from cylinder head (1). Remove and discard metal gasket located between cylinder head and valve assembly.
The new EGR valve will come with a new metal gasket. You can reuse the smaller gasket for the metal pipe going to the egr valve as long as its not damaged.

How do I install an EGR valve for 2005 dodge durango?

To install the EGR Valve on a 2005 Durango first it is necessary to remove the air intake hoses and palce them to the side. Next, in order to get the EGR valve you will need to remove the windshield wiper motor, which is a pain but necessary to do get to the EGR valve. After removing all of the itemsthat are in the way you will be faced with a task that will try your patience, the EGR valve is located on the right side of the motor, (as if you were facing the motor from the front) just behind and to the rear of the throttle body. After you locate it you will need a rachet with a flexible head because it is fairly difficult to reach otherwise. A mirror and light will also help so you can see what you are doing since the EGR valve is located in such a hard place to see and get to that you will only be able to see part of it while you are removing the screws. After removing the EGR valve, simply reversethe procedure and your done. P.S. I own a 2005 Dodge Durango SLT with a 4.7L engine and I replaced mine this year after a check engine light came on and I checked the code on the OBD. By the way the EGR valve is a pain in the rear to change. Good luck!

2005 Dodge caravan 3.2 code 406? is this an

This code is for the EGR valve, "P0406 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor A Circuit High", this doesn't necesarily mean you need to change your EGR valve but it's probable. Check with your dealer this just might still be covered.

Egr valve dodge durango

if this is a 4.7l engine, the valve is on the left rear of the intake. loosen the 8mm bolts that hold the egr intake tube to the egr valve, remove the egr bolts, disconnect wiring, remove valve and tube together, attach intake tube loosely to new valve, install new valve, tighten tube bolts to egr using a swivel socket, this is not a 5 minute job, so dont attempt unless you have some time and patience.
