When engine bog down or surge when taking off sound like fuel filter partially stopped up also some injectors or a weak fuel pump.

An evap vent valve malfunction generaly will not cause any drivability issues.
a surge under light acceleration and lack of power could be caused by a fuel delivery problem sutch as a plugged filter or a weak pump. it could be a malfunctioning o2 sensor or even a vacum leak.
without a scan tool to view the engine data and trouble codes, you could be in for a hair pulling experience trying to pinpoint the problem.

I have a 2001 nissan xterra - will not engage in reverse gear - any solutions?

Does it seem to bog down when in reverse as you accelerate? If so the trans maybe stuck in forward gear (mechanical problem) resulting in both forward & rev being applied.

2001 toyota sienna, 6cyl 3l, must accelerate very slowly from stop or van seems to bog down badly, may take 2 miles to get to 55 mph, going up bridges it bogs down very badly, diagnostics indicated...

Brake loose connection between cat and exhaust manifold , it will allow exhaust gas to go out before cat , and see if it's restore the power on the engine.
If it does then your cat is clogged.
If not it's also might be Throttle Position Sensor , or Mass Air Flow Sensor.
You can't remove cat , you have to replace it if it's bad. Cat is a part of Emission control system.

2004 chevy cavalier , had trany checked its fine seems to have power but when you accelerate it runs about 3000rpm and dont seem to go anywhere fast also cant accelerate up hills it slows down.checked coil...

Make sure the catlytic converter is not plugged up. That can make them bog down really bad and usually does not set an error code. If you can unbolt it where the exhaust goes in and wire it up to test the theory.

1997 s10 2 wheel drive truck. 4.3L v6 makes a loud noise as the car accelerates fast or under load. When running 55 I can release the gas pedal and the noise is not audible. I can put the truck in neutral...

Your noise sounds like it is power train related,If you have eliminated the engine,Since it doesn't make the noise while moving and in neutral.
It sounds like a universal joint in the drive shaft.Do you notice a vibration
along with the noise?

Bogging down when under medium throttle

Hi,
Have you had the Catalytic converter checked? it could be due for replacement as they break down and cause tremendous back pressure.
Hope this Fixya's problem!
