My 2006 Buick LaCrosse will turn over after a few tries but will not stay on? The codes p0128, p0350, p0411, p0442 & p0455. Was given to my by autozone. Are any of these the reasons why? If so which ones, I don't have money to get them all fixed at once. Thanks

DTC P0350 Ignition Coil Control Circuit
The ignition control module (ICM) controls spark timing when the engine is cranking. During this Bypass mode of operation, the ICM triggers each ignition coil in the proper sequence at a pre-calibrated timing advance. The ICM is connected directly to the powertrain control module (PCM) and includes the following circuits:
• The medium resolution engine speed signal circuit
• The camshaft position signal circuit
• A low reference circuit
• The low resolution engine speed signal circuit
• The ignition control (IC) timing control circuit
• The IC timing signal circuit
The PCM sends spark timing signals to the ICM on the IC timing control circuit, but during cranking the ICM grounds these signals. When the PCM begins receiving the 3X reference pulses from the ICM and the engine starts, the PCM applies 5 volts to the IC timing signal circuit allowing the ICM to switch to the IC mode of operation and respond to the spark timing signals from the PCM. The PCM monitors the IC timing control circuit for errors. If the PCM detects a fault, DTC P0350 sets.

DTC P0411 : Secondary Air Injection (AIR) System Incorrect Air Flow Detected

DTC P0442 Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System Small Leak Detected

DTC P0455 Evaporative Emission System Large Leak Diagnostic

Out of the code's listed i would say the first is the only one that could becausing your problem .

Without doing the diagnostic's that are for that code i would be just guessing . Could be caused by Ignition Control Module

P0442, P0455 AND P0456 are all evaporative leak monitor test failures (small, medium and large leaks). These codes appear anytime the integrity of the air space above the fuel or the lines to/from the vapor canister or purge valve. If there is no damage to the canister, check the lines that run under the van from the fuel tank and canister to the purge valve (under the hood). Also, check to make sure that the hoses are not split or disconnected where they connect to the purge valve. The P1684 is abit more confusing. This is not a valid DTC for your vehicle. It's possible the scanner the shop you went to is an OTC scanner that is reporting a false code. It's also possible they wrote it down incorrectly. The closest thing that makes any sense is a P1486 which would indicate a pinched hose in the same monitor system as the other 3 codes. Best of luck!

Hello shoretex...Yes sir you can repair this yourself...
p0442 is medium leak detected ...p0456 is small leak....and p0440 is a general evap system failure.. evap codes are a common thing. gas caps are an inexpensive place to start. There are two types of evap hoses on the Dodge... hard plastic and soft rubber.... before you replace parts check the soft rubber first at the evap cans and pump located about a foot in front of the gas tank fill pipe on trucks located next to the transfer case or right behind the trans on the driver side. hard plastic lines will brake or rub through...check spots where lines come in contact with anything. this is a common thing with older trucks...hair line cracks will kick a p0442 code, and a p0445 code...When you find a leak, repair it, and rescan...sometimes there are several leaks, continue with inspection and repairs until you get it all fixed up.... Remember..start at simple and work from there...
i will post the evap. system in more detail to help you troubleshoot the problem.
EVAP System: The Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Control system used on all vehicles is the charcoal canister storage method. This method transfers fuel vapor from the fuel tank to an activated carbon (charcoal) storage device (canister) to hold the vapors when the vehicle is not operating. When the engine is operating, the fuel vapor is purged from the carbon element by intake air flow and consumed in the normal combustion process. The evaporative system includes the following components: *Fuel tank *Evaporative emission canister vent solenoid *Fuel tank pressure sensor *Fuel pipes and hoses *Vapor lines *Fuel cap *Evaporative emission canister *Purge lines *Purge valve solenoid EVAP System Operation: The EVAP purge solenoid valve allows manifold vacuum to purge the canister. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) supplies a ground to energize the EVAP purge solenoid valve (purge on). The EVAP purge solenoid control is Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) or turned on and off several times a second. The EVAP canister purge PWM duty cycle varies according to the operating conditions determined by the mass air flow, the fuel trim, the engine coolant temperature, and the intake air temperature. For certain EVAP tests, the diagnostic will be disabled if the TP angle increases to above 75% . The evaporative leak detection diagnostic strategy is based on applying vacuum to the EVAP system and monitoring for vacuum decay. The fuel level sensor input to the PCM is used to determine if the fuel level in the tank is correct to run the EVAP diagnostic tests. To ensure sufficient volume in the tank to begin the various diagnostic tests, the fuel level must be between 15% and 85% . The PCM monitors the fuel tank pressure/vacuum level via the fuel tank pressure sensor input. Results of Incorrect Operation: Poor idle, stalling and poor driveability can be caused by the following: *Malfunctioning purge solenoid. *Damaged canister. *Hoses/lines split, cracked and/or not connected properly. Evidence of fuel loss or fuel vapor odor can be caused by the following: *Liquid fuel leaking from the fuel lines *Cracked or damaged canister *Inoperative canister control valve Vacuum hoses that are: *Disconnected *Mis-routed *Kinked *Deteriorated *Damaged The evaporative leak detection diagnostic strategy is based on applying vacuum to the EVAP system and monitoring vacuum decay. The PCM monitors vacuum level via the fuel tank pressure sensor input. At an appropriate time, the EVAP purge solenoid and the EVAP vent solenoid are turned on, allowing engine vacuum to draw a small vacuum on the entire evaporative emission system. After the desired vacuum level has been achieved, the EVAP purge solenoid is turned off, sealing the system. A leak is detected by monitoring for a decrease in vacuum level over a given time period, all other variables remaining constant. A small leak in the system causes DTC P0442 to be set. If the desired vacuum level cannot be achieved in the test described above, a large leak or a faulty EVAP purge solenoid is indicated. This can be caused by the following conditions: *Disconnected or faulty fuel tank pressure sensor. *Missing or faulty fuel cap. *Disconnected, damaged, pinched, or blocked EVAP purge line. *Disconnected or damaged EVAP vent hose. *Disconnected, damaged, pinched, or blocked fuel tank vapor line. *Disconnected or faulty EVAP canister solenoid. *Disconnected or faulty EVAP vent solenoid. *Open ignition feed circuit to the EVAP vent or purge solenoid. *Damaged EVAP canister. Any of the above conditions sets DTC P0440. A restricted or blocked EVAP canister vent path is detected by drawing vacuum into the EVAP system. The PCM turns off the EVAP vent solenoid and the EVAP purge solenoid (EVAP vent solenoid Open, EVAP purge PWM 0% ). The PCM monitors the fuel tank pressure sensor input. With the EVAP vent solenoid open, any vacuum in the system should decrease quickly unless the vent is blocked. A blockage is caused by the following conditions: *Faulty EVAP vent solenoid (stuck closed). *Plugged, kinked, or pinched vent hose. *Shorted EVAP vent solenoid driver circuit. *Plugged evaporative canister.

SOURCE: error codes p0442 & P0455

Those are both Evaporative Emission Control System related.
442 is a small leak has been detected.
455 is a bigger leak has been detected.
Check all your connections, (electrical & vacuum lines) as well as check for any cracked, loose vacuum hoses in the system, as well as clean "O" ring on your gas cap well and threads in filler pipe & make sure gas cap is tight. Do the gas cap first & see if codes dissappear, but it may take a new gas cap. These codes commonly appear shortly after getting gas, due to cap not back on tight.

Transmitter ProgrammingImportant: All transmitters which are to be recognized by the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR) must be programmed in a single programming sequence. If the system is placed in program mode it will erase all previously programmed transmitters upon the receipt of the programming signal from the first transmitter. Up to 4 transmitters can be programmed. Do not operate or program the transmitters in the vicinity of other vehicles that are in the keyless entry program mode. This prevents the programming of the transmitters to the incorrect vehicle.

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Use the scan tool in order to access programming: Vehicle Control System/Computer Integrating System/Module Setup/BCM/Program Key Fobs.
  3. Press the START soft key on the scan tool. Important: The scan tool must stay connected until all of the transmitters are programmed.
  4. Press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button simultaneously on one transmitter. After a delay of 5-10 seconds, the scan tool will indicate that the transmitter is programmed.
  5. Repeat the previous step in order to program up to 4 transmitters.
  6. Remove the scan tool.
  7. Operate the transmitter functions in order to verify correct system operation.

SOURCE: trouble codes P0128, P0455 and U1041

P0128 is the coolant is below normal temperature.
P0455 is Evap system detects a large leak.
U1041 is communication was lost to brake control module.
It is weird that you are having these problems at the same time.
You may not have a problem in anyone of these systems. But again you may.I would suggest that you look into the battery, related wiring, connections, and the alternator. If the electronics are not getting enough voltage then you can have system failure.

I have a 2009 chevy impala. i have codes p2138, p0455 and p0442. what are these codes and how do I get rid of them?

Same 3 codes , p0455, p0442, & p2138 on my 2009 Chevy Impala and brought the car to a General Motor or Buick Dealer Service Department to replace vent solenoid or solenoid fuel tank evaporator control . Also replaced gas pedal position sensor.

Code p0411

Basicly means the secondry air pump is not operating.

Check fuses if not whirring but if it is whirring it is normally a blocked tube / hose

If niether and no noise at all maybe a new pump

P0411 Secondary Air Injection System Incorrect Flow Detected
p0411 is a generic code, probably a vacume leak,vacume hose broken check this first, check the air pump turn on the car but it needs to be cold, you should hear a high pitched whine, this is the air pump running,there are 2 hoses one suction one blowing thishose should be going from the air pump to the air cleaner disconnect that and see what the volume is should be pretty strong.
But mostly you probably have a broken vacume line somewhere

OBD 2 codes p0442 and p0455, also smell of fuel from ventalation system

These codes indicate a leak(s) in the fuel system, it can be anywhere, you will have to crawl under and try and see where the leak is, you will need a scanner to turn off the light after repairing the leak(s)
