SOURCE: Gas smell when starting and small dripage when back up from under engine

It sounds like the return fuel line is leaking. There are two fuel line and one is the high pressure line which goes to the fuel pressure regulator then to the fuel rails. There is then a return line from the fuel rail to the gas tank.
With the amount of fuel leak, it's going to be the return line since it's not that bad compared to the high pressure side. Follow the fuel lines from the drivers side around the steering shaft to the engine. The high side and low side (return) run side by side and you should see it leaking when the engine is running.
Good luck and hope this helps.

SOURCE: My compressor won't kick on so I check the freon

A common problem with those s-10's was the heater core. there could be a crack in the line. It's a tough replacement, you have to take apart the dash if I'm not mistaken. hope this helps.

SOURCE: 1996 impala ss air conditioner compressor is very noisy

That clutch and coil are serviceable without replacing the compressor but I have had little success with this as usually the clutch gets in that shape subsequently from activity going on inside the compressor which means that clutch is failed generally for a reason.replace the compressor -orfice tube-reciever drier and happy motoring......

SOURCE: 1996 chevrolet beretta 2.2 l sfi ohv 4cyl i keep

This might not solve your problem but with the chevy beretta there is a fusable link(8 guage wire) that connects from the battery to the alternator. The wire is there so if there is a surge through the electrical system that fusable link gets burned and not your alt. If your alt. is getting burned up you possibly have a fusable link that is to big and is allowing to much surge go into the alt. I had the opposite problem with mine. I had a to small of a wire so the fuseable link kept burning up. We spiced it three times before it stopped burning up. I hope this helps

1996 Chevrolet Beretta. Where do I add freon?

attach the recharge kit to the valve under the blue cap on the lower front of the vehicle, between the engine and radiator. The hose end from the kit, will only fit the proper size fitting on A/c system. The right fitting is there! Good-Day!

I have a 96 Chev. Beretta, and hard to start with sputtering and sneezing after misfire. and then will eventually start but very high idle speed.

If the check engine light is on I would check it for trouble codes first.
The high idle could be a vac leak or faulty idle air control valve.

You should run the engine and watch it to see if you can see where the leak is coming from, it is most likely coming from a hose or the water pump.

How to install front struts 1996 beretta

I believe these are equipped with McPherson struts and a spring compressor is required to replace the struts. It is possible to DIY but the spring compressor is mandatory to prevent the compressed spring surrounding the strut from wreaking havoc once released.

Need to replace,no longer cooling

if you replace the ac,you need to find out whats bad first. To see if it needs a charge only locate the pressure switch on the air dryer which is a silver canister with a plug on the side of it with 2 wires, when you unplug it and look at the plug you will see the connectors, use a small piece of wire to jump them together, turn on the engine with the ac on and if the compressor kicks on then its out of freon, then the o-rings in the lines need replacing.Note that its probably a r-12 system which if there is freon in it,it will have to be evacuated or sucked out first, and you will have to change the air dryer, which new is about $90.00 at the autoparts store.Even if the compressor is bad and you have to replace it you will still need to replace the air dryer because you will have to charge it with 134a and it does not mix with r-12.Also there is a filter behind that switch on the air dryer called the orrifice that can be plugged and the ac wont get cold enough no matter how much freon you put in it.Its a job to fix them and it takes time, but its worth it and remember to replace all o rings when you re-charge it so you dont have a leak and waste it,which there is a dye to put in the system that comes out the leaky seal or line.

Air cond dash light works, compressor doesn't go on.

AC's have a low freon switch that shuts off the system to protect the compressor in the advent that you have a freon leak have the system checked for a leak
