MY CAR IS STUCK IN DRIVE HOUW CAN I GET IT OUT OF DRIVE

without starting the vehicle, turn the key just to the first click press the brake and see if you can put the car into neutral, if so, start the engine while there in neutral and then put it in drive and drive it to the dealer

Are you sure it's not just the linkage jammed up with sand? If it is internal, drop the pan and you should be able to see if a solenoid has broken, as they usually come loose from the base. Good time to change filter and fluid too.

probly hav a linkage problem--try ajustin it at trans under the car--u need a repair manual=partstore haz them--also displays maintenance for all area of vehicle--put jackstands under car cause a jack alone will fall

Vehicle transmission linkage or bracket bent/broken or electrical wires damaged. Most likely visible when vehicle raised safely and inspected. Good luck and safe driving to you!

I was first going to say the problem is the neutral safety switch, but based on what you said about it being stuck in drive and the shifter can be moved around, I would say the cable is broke or a connector on either end of the cable. The cable connects the shifter with the shift lever on the side of the transmission.
The shift lever is probably under the master cylinder on the driver side.

Yes, because your wearing down the shifter and it'll get loose and it could be hard to handle.------------------------------------------------------------------------

if htis is the zetec engine then its quite simple ,just slacken and remove the fan belt by turning tensioner with a spanner clockwuase and this will release the tension so belt can be slipped off.then their is one bolt and two nuts ,remove the bolt and then the nuts on teh two studs ,then with a torx socket remove the long studs that had the nuts on and it comes off quite easy

Battery should be right in front of engine compartment, but clicking is probably coming from the starter solenoid.

Go to your local auto parts store and get a Haynes or Chiltons manual should have instructions on how to take it apart as well as houw to switch it out.

sounds like u have a worn out clutch or a faulty pressure plate
