Van cranks over but will not start - 1993 Ford Aerostar Extended

Engines only need three things to start.

1. Fuel (we know you have that)
2. Compression (we assume nothing happened since the last time it ran)
3. A spark at the right time (this is the likely culprit)

Click on the link, the diagram is for starter motor. Will the starter motor crank the engine? If it cranks good but won't start, make sure battery has a full charge and connections all good. Have a helper crank it while you check for spark at the plugs. Spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. Check fuel injector pulse. Any applicable trouble codes. Those are the basic checks, in my opinion.

it could be your problem for sure ....the senor or wires cut

have crank sensor adjust if not change it

sounds like something loose and vibrating near the fan ..check the shroud (fan)

First thing to check is the ASD relay and voltage at the coil.

Try turning the key on (but don't crank the engine) and wait about 2 minutes, then try and start the van. Anytime mine sits more than overnight, this is the only way it will start, otherwise runs fine.

wont turn over??sounds like the timing belt has broke and pistons hitting the valves

look under the hood on the right side where your brake fluid is..There is a black box to the farest right of the brake fluid. take off the lid to this box were you will find fuses..Reach in and feel the fuses to see if any are loose.The largest fuses in the front, push down on those and then try to start it up..Take them out look at them make sure there ok if this dont work..they the one bad might need to be replaced..

What year van is this? If later model, has anyone looked at the diagnostic code(s)? Could also be the Mass Airflow Sensor...
