1. Look if the PRNDL light instrument panel. Every light should be on if one missing you have a problem.
2. Look for any PCM (Powertrain Control Module) faulty code with a scanner.
3. PRNDL switch must be adjusted at the right place. When you bought the switch it must have a small key attach to the switch. That's the adjusting tool for adjustment. Be very careful how to do it (switch adjustment procedure).
When the PCM senses a transmission fault it will code and take action on that code. ( Like depends what is the fault)
1. No TCC apply and no fourth gear engage and many more actions.
Faulty code appearing isn't time or synchronize with your problem.

Security wise? turn the ignition on for ten minutes, off for thirty seconds. Try t start. this a reset. A relearn is three times this. Start after the third time. Still no stat. Have the security codes read. Bad key, chip, wires, or BCM.
open the back door. there are two screws that hold it in (ether a philips or a torx) unscrew and pull straight out. it is cliped in on the other side so you need to pull hard.
There is plastic covers inside. They are either held on with screws or clips. If they are held on with clips you might need a special tool which you can get off any tool truck - Snap On, Mac, Matco, Cornwell, The Tool Box. You will find the harness behind this plastic trim. Good luck.
Hi Jim, If the vehicle is fitted with climate control it will have electronic management. However it can be wired by someone knowing electrical circuitry to by pass the control. It will save you some cash but will need manual control. Make sure whoever does the job knows what he or she is doing. Have a happy new year. Regards John
