Sounds like lower engine damage, could be a bearing or low oil pressure but if knocking the damage is done. i would have a tech just double check it to make sure, i have seen flywheels make noise and pulleys and a/c compressors, so just make sure it is in the oil pan if so then engine will need repair.

SOURCE: knocking in the bottom of ford 5.4 liter engine

If you hear it knocking no bearing replacement is going to fix that long term. Its best to pull it, the crank shaft will have to be turned or polished and or replaced, weather its a rod or a maine, and posibly line boared if its a maine thats knocking. Do it right and pull it.

SOURCE: Car makes rattling noise when I accelerate or when

Most common cause of rattling noise is a loose heat shield on the catalytic converter.  It's ok to drive in this condition but if the noise becomes too bothersome, you can either remove it or bring it to a muffler shop and see if they will spot weld it or secure it another way.  Don't let them try to sell you another catalytic converter.

HAVE A KNOCKING SOUND IN THE ENGINE.???..

Might need an oil change. There is a product called Lucas Oil Stabalizer, it is great. Just replace one quart of oil with it, it really smooths the idle and quets things down.

Engine knocking noise in 2000 saab 9-3 SE?

It's a common problem with these cars i am actually fixing mine as of now. That car is all about oil pressure and when it is low you'll start to get a tap and or what sounds like a knock due to the lifters not having enough pressure. Try taking your oil pan off and check your oil pick up line going from the oil pan to the turbo. A lot of times it gets a lot of sludge build up and makes the pressure little to none. If that looks clear check the slump inside the oil pan and see if that has sludge build up. Well hope this helped

MY 2000 Montero Sport has a loud knocking when i Start it UP ESPECIALLY WHEN ITS COLD IT GOES AWAY AFTER IT WARMS UP

Sounds like a hydralic lifter issue. These lifters operate the cylinder valves and run off oil pressure. When the engine is cold and the oil is thick worn lifters tend to rattle. When the engine warms up, everything expands and the lifters stop rattling. There is no easy cure for this except replacing the lifters. Sorry....

Knocking sound coming from around the oil pan.

This is a big sign that you might have a spun rod bearing if it's coming form your oil pan. Use a screwdriver and put the flat tip end on the oil pan and the plastic end near your ear like a stethascope and if you hear a knocking it's probaly a spun rod bearing or a bent or warped wrist pin on the bottom of your piston. So some good advice is to not run it anymore until you get it a mechanic to fix it. If you want to do it yourself you have a job ahead of you but refer to an Haynes Auto Repair Manual and you will have fun doing a job by yourself. I hoped this help!

Knocking from motor

alot of the time, the carbon in the old oil makes up the gaps in worn pieces of your engine, and when you change the oil, it washes that carbon away. To get by, you can add some Lucas brand oil stabilizer, just drain a quart of oil and add the lucas. It is much heavier than the oil, so it helps take up the space left by the carbon, but it IS NOT A FIX. It will just help you get by until you can make the proper repairs. Any time you have a knock, you are usually doing damage to the motor every time you crank it, so use it as little as possible until you can have the motor rebuilt. Let me know if this helps :)

Engine knock...

Oil pressure might actually be a bit high for idle. High or low oil pressure in an older engine tends to be indicative of some serious issues. Oil pressure that is too high tends to be a clue that you have serious carbon build up. That aside, have you tried running a higher octane fuel, or perhaps adding an octane booster to your normal grade? Pinging can become knocking in a badly worn engine. One recommendation: At your next oil change try substituting a quart of marvel mystery oil or lucas engine oil treatment in place of one quart of your normal oil. Both have some pretty good track records for helping to free up sticking valves and break up carbon in older engines. I'm an old timer myself, and I personally swear by Marvel for older engines. There is no "rebuild in a can" but Marvel comes close. Give those a shot, let me know what happens.

Knocking noise at idle

This is AC compressor rattle, don't worry about it unless it is really loud, in that case replace the compressor.
