1992 BMW Audio problems

Hi,
I replaced the deck in my car, I bought the wiring harness adapter, and got it all wired up according to the decks manual, and when I turned it all on, no sound would come through the speakers. The deck powers on, but none of the speakers work apparently. I've checked and double checked the wiring, but nothing. Any ideas? Should I just take it into a shop and see if they'd look at it?

I cut 1 speaker wire on the new harness and hooked up to a house speaker and it worked.

My first suspect would be the harness adapter, if your sound was working ok before fitting the the new decks:take the part number of the adapter and check it again even if you have to check it on line with the manafactures to see it is compatable with your new decks/and your car chassis number.adrian

Wiring JVC car deck

Do you have factory infinity sound. If you do you need a another harness or bypass that infinity system. Also What year is the truck. I know for a dodge ram after 02 is a canbus system. When wiring in the harness leave the blue remote wire alone do not connect from radio harness to the harness that connects to factory harness. Unless you are running to an aftermarket amp. There is a brown wire also that you should not connect leave the remote blue and brown wires alone. this is atleast on a 02 dodge 1500 or newer and 03 or newer 2500+. not sure if this will solve your issue but it fixed my buddies.

each speaker in your car runs the wiring thru an amp. So each spkear has its own amp for the bose system. You can not hook up a none bose radio If you do you will need to run new wires and replace all the speakers. Sorry.

Are Sony car audio decks compatible with the 2002 Freelander S

yes, but you may need a dash install kit to mount the cd player, a wiring harness that u wire to the deck so u can plug it in to the factory plug in ur car and possibly an antenna adapter. the parts average between 12-20 a peice

No sound from new stereo

check the speakers in the rear deck, in the rear hatch or trunk, often the two wires that come out of the speaker touch if that happens it will short out the speaker drivers in the radio most times no permanant damage will occur. separate the wires so they do not touch,or touch the metal speker base, that may not be the problem but its a start..

Need to know the wires to install a deck for 97

Red is power to from ignition to cd deck
Yellow is direct power from battery to cd deck to hold the memory.
Black is ground
Blue is only needed if you are hooking up an amplifier.
I always suggest buying a wire harness quick connect system for $5, then you won't have to cut origional car wiring. If by chance you are taking the original wire route, then go to installer.com to find which wires on the car are for what.

Here are the factory wire colors, please rate this solution to your problem, a note any stereo store that sells auto decks has adapter wiring harnesses to do a direct plug in of your DIN standard radio you are trying to install, no cutting of the factory harness, they are cheap

The wires for the stereo are cut

Yes this is not to bad to deal with.. make sure you use quality wire connectors so you don't have problems later with bad connections. you pretty much just have to match the colors from the harness in the car to the ones on your deck. If you don't want to cut off the harness connector on your deck just purchase one that you can connect to your deck and cut the wire ends on the other side of the adapter. The only wires you wont be able to match color for color is speaker wires... for these you will just have to hook them up temp. and test to see that they are connected to the proper speaker output. close.gif Read more >> Options >> answers-logo.gif
